We stayed 1 night in Eureka as we traveled the length of the old Lincoln Highway from west to east. Our AirBnb, the Old Collonade Hotel, had brochures and discount coupons for local businesses and the Eureka Depot was one of the places that was mentioned. We love to shop at small local businesses when we travel, so we stopped at the Depot to grab some coffee and sweets before we headed out of town. I forgot to bring my discount coupon with me, but this place smelled so good, I didn't even care. We got Snickers lattes and brown butter cinnamon rolls to go. I just wanna say it's a good thing we live in Illinois because if this place was closer to us, we'd over-indulge, for sure! This place is wonderful and we were SO glad we stopped. I will have dreams about that brown butter cinnamon roll, no doubt about it! Whoever that baker is really knows what they...
Read moreWhat an excellent find in Eureka! We pulled onto a side street to park our motorhome in the shade for a break, and happened to park in front of this delightful store. It’s a modern, full service coffee shop and more. My wife loved the chai and we ended up fighting over the last of the Preacher’s Cake slice that we decided to split - it was absolutely delicious! The Eureka Depot is located on a quiet side street with ample parking, just behind the Pharmacy on HWY 50. The building is beautifully restored from the 1800’s, with great history and photos throughout. If you want to learn some local history while enjoying a “big city” quality expresso or coffee, stop by this place. And, be sure to try one of the homemade baked goods. I am so glad we stumbled onto this place while passing...
Read moreOne of the few active, functioning restaurants in Eureka. It is in a beautifully restored dance hall from the late 1800's. You order at counter, take a number and they bring it to you. Very friendly, cheerful staff. The big focus is on pastries, cookies etc. They have an espresso machine and make coffee driks. They also have a good selection of sodas. they make some breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches also. We had French dip and a Philly cheese steak. They were both good. Also got cinnamon rolls and cookies to go. They were very good at breakfast in camp. If you are in or near Eureka and want a good breakfast or...
