What went right: the server greeted us promptly, took our soft drink order, delivered the soft drinks and food, recommended a chicken "cutlet" sandwich for my husband.
The older female cook made a chicken sandwich my husband liked very much.
The very very bad: the server ordered some a burger, when I told him if they didn't have blue cheese, I'd order sometime else, he did not ask how we wanted our burgers cooked (we had been driving 8 hours, so I didn't think about it), he didn't bring catsup, cutlery or napkins until asked (he was talking to a girl when he should have been working), and served me a burger he knew I didn't want.
The cook made the burgers well done which, of course dried them out. She put my burger on a cold bun. She, of course, should not have cooked my burger without at least asking if I wanted it without the blue cheese. She overcooked the fries and tater tots and, after forgetting to make them, burned ½ the onion rings and overcook the rest, so they had no hint of onion flavor.
If this is what they think a diner should be, then don't bother. I shudder to think how they would deliver a steak to you if they can't cook a simple burger. It's a huge...
Read moreThem backwards. Read the word them backwards if you want to know what's going on at this place. This restaurant is a nightmare. Only eleven tables, two waitresses, and 3 or 4 kitchen staff. Yet somehow it was two hours before we walked out of this place, the service was awful. It was 15 minutes before we were acknowledged 30 minutes before drinks. We waited over an hour for food. At minute 50ish they brought us one entree, set it in front of one of the three of us, and then came back before he had a chance to take a bite, and then took it away from us and made us wait another 20! Waitress said "I could tell it wasn't done," she took the food away. When we finally did get our meal, the food was awful. This business shamefully exploits the fact that most of its customers are...
Read moreStaying in lovely Eureka and enjoying the summer weather. Friends from home came thru and we decided to go to Owl Cafe for lunch. We ordered 4 burgers with fries. We wanted 2 with No mayo and the other were requested rare. We were told the cook didn’t take to special requests much so we might have to scrape mayo off and on the two rare ones you get what you get. Well, okay. We sat for 90 minutes and waitress just kept telling us the cook was not cooking our order. Everyone else that came in got their food. So do you beg around here, get snippy with them so they spit in your food, or do you go somewhere else. We left and hit up the new coffee shop around the corner and got sandwiches. Is it because we aren’t locals? I guess we will ever know cuz we...
