Subway — Restaurant in Evanston

As a CDL driver, I come through this location a few times a year. It's getting worse every time. Usually, there are long lines here with slow-moving employees. Today, though, was a little different.. two guests in front of me, as usual, no urgency in their work speed, but this time I watched two very rude workers be snappy, short and mean to the two patrons ahead of me. I usually don't get offended by it. Sometimes, we all have bad days, but this was insulting and mean. When one patron asked for an item they didn't have, he was told rudly that this is a "franchise" and they don't carry everything. The other worker was rude, pushy and mean about how the patron they were serving wanted his sandwich put together. Though that patron had difficulty expressimg how he wanted his sandwich and the fact that he clearly didn't have a lot of experience ordering food from subway, there was absolutely no excuse for him to be snapped at, insulted and embarrassed like that. I dont work at subway and i completely understood how he wanted his food and how little extra effort it was to understand him. This worker wanted to make a production of it and express their frustration. Like any job, some things are more difficult to do and handling customers was clearly not this workers strength. It was insulting and I decided to leave the line before it was my turn. Why would I want to be treated like that for customizing my sandwich at Subway.. where that shouldn't be a problem. Some of the sandwiches i like have slightly different ingredients than the menu items posted, and i saw how i would be talked to by the workers. I gladly spent my money down the road at a diner in Little America. It was good too.. they have sandwiches. Won't come back. Clearly, with the poor reviews posted recently and the lower and lower quality of service, it doesn't look like things will get better. If management wants to look into the visit- It was on...

Update: This place has really gone downhill. Probably because the manager chooses to NOT hire new people and work the ones he has to death instead. All this to keep a bonus he gets. We got some food yesterday. (7/2/25) It was prepared wrong. I get a bowl...because they no longer have the gluten-free buns. As a result, i ask for the dressings on the side when i order because they destroy, damage, and wilt the greens before i can finish it. They put the dressings IN THE BOWL. In addition, it had half of what the bowl usually has in it. It Didn't have all if the ingredients i ordered in it, (no cheese, no peperoocini) and the server was rude. Also, she was the only person working up front during a peak time period with a long line. You're better off going to one of the others in town where the employees are treated better.

They no longer have the gluten-free rolls. Go to Costa Vida instead. They are very allergy friendly. The Bakery also as well. The restaurant across the street from the bakery also offers gluten-free meals made on the Bakery's gluten-free bread.

They have gluten free sub rolls! I did not know it was a thing for Subway. I've asked at several other stores only...

Was waiting at the counter for a couple minutes before Jason came in from outside he took me and my friends order and as I was expecting a number 20 they had no rotisserie chicken prepped so I asked for a number 6 the boss because meatballs sounded really good as he tells me there’s no meatballs… so I decided to go with a number 1 I had to ask him for the meat to be heated up which was no big deal but as we went to the toppings I wanted to get some ranch with some sweet teriyaki he ran out of ranch in his bottle and looked in the stock cooler he came back to the counter as he didn’t say anything when I asked “no ranch” he had said yea I was disappointed in my experience as a former employee of subway I know that you should actually prep your things to give your customers the best experience instead of only making sandwhiches when there’s customers and sitting down at the table with your girlfriend or sitting outside on the curd smoking the whole time really...
