Sunset Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Exeter Township

If you want the experience of what America is all about then THIS is the place. A place sort of stuck suspended in time. I mean it legit has looked the same my whole life. Outdated maroon, the wall paper is peeling in some spots, the window shades and tables are rough around the edges, the bar seats are squeaky, the booths will feel rough and saggy and the waitresses will call you, "honey." As you eat you'll hear the locals talking a little about politics and little about family. You'll hear them joking around with the waitresses and cooks. You'll hear the old dishes clanking together and the sweet rumble of semi engines flying by on route 422. Anything you order here is good. From the basic order of eggs, home fries and bacon to the savory California cheese burger with fresh cut fries. From the salisbury steak with mashed potatoes to the soup and salad from the salad bar. This ain't some boring chain restaurant. This ain't some boring fancy high dollar eatery. No. This is a place with character. A place with memories. A place with its own personality. This... This is Sunset Family Restaurant and I wouldn't trade it...

I was greeted quickly told I could take a seat never been here before. wanted some breakfast called ahead they said they were still serving. I ordered a ham and bacon croissant sandwich which was very good however my American fries I asked extra crispy and they were barely Brown most of them were white. I told the waitress about them and she did nothing And said nothing and started talking to other customers. I got a glass of water with lemon was never asked if I wanted more water when my food was delivered. As I was getting up to leave and pay my bill, my waitress asked me if I wanted a glass of water, I said no thank you I am leaving now I would like my bill so she got it for me; tried charging me full price and I refused to pay the full price. They took $2.00 off of my bill. Some local people were friendly. The waitress showed me my bill and she did write well done on the receipt. No manager...

Raved about this place last year. Not now. Last year they started padding the bill. My woman doesn't drink coffee. 2X we were billed for her "coffee". Then and NOW the bill gets rung up with higher than the new menu prices. A month and a half ago the manager was there with the morning waitress (this was mid-afternoon) and they corrected the bill to match the menu price. 3 Saturdays ago the afternoon waitress was there. When we pointed out the discrepancy she told us, "Oh that's the new menu and the prices are wrong." THIS IS LIKE going to a car dealer and they sell you the car for more than List Price. We will avoid Sunset for quite awhile. Arguing over a padded bill is not normal but happens here too often. We've seen this at other eating establishments. Me thinks the waitress is pocketing. Oh, and no salad bar. Cook over-fries the fresh cut french...
