When I walked in the door to El Maguey for lunch, there was a station with a man waiting on a customer immediately to my right. I didn't know if I should wait in line to get a table because there wasn't a sign further ahead asking people to wait to be seated. I waited my turn only to be told to wait at the doorway to be seated. There really should be a sign so that people know what to do.
The waitress asked how many people would be at my table and seated me after I indicated I would be waiting for my friend to join me. The man who was at the station came over and asked if I wanted to order something while I was waiting. He was very pleasant. I ordered a margarita and was then presented with some delicious salsa and chips.
My friend was an hour late, and the waitress checked on me periodically to see if everything was okay. I told her my friend was still coming and she was pleasant about my situation. The margarita was very good and the place was soon filled to the brim.
When my friend arrived, the waitress brought her over to the table with a menu and asked her if she would like something to drink. It took us a while to decide what to order, and the waitress was quite patient with us. The food was ready in no time and was very flavorful.
The waitress checked on us throughout our meals, and after we finished. She brought my friend a container for her leftovers, and we left the restaurant...
Read moreThis is the first time I visited. I had heard good things. I ordered the #1 lunch special chile relleno to go. My first indication that the food was not authentic was they did not ask me what kind of taco I wanted or type of tortillas. It was ready in 5 minutes flag #2. When I got back to my jobs items I looked in the bag. It contained 1 covered dish that was hot and one that was cold along with a paper bag. Opened hot plate and it was full to the brim with refried beans with a chilling stem sticking out. The cold dish was just full of lettuce, a slice of tomato, and a scoop of guacamole. The bag contained a corn tortilla filled with unseasoned finely ground beef with some jack cheese. So much beans you could not taste what I ordered so not sure if it was good or authentic. Taco was awful and I did not even open the lettuce bowl. The end result was it will make a turd. Not recommended, the hot wet brown plate was not very...
Read moreMy first review of a ”restaurant” This place was truly awful. One of those menus with tons of items in small print. Totally overwhelming. We order the fajita for 2. This pile of chicken and veggies arrived on a cold fajita frying pan sitting in sauce. The even put a cloth on the handle to make it look like it had been cooked on the fajita pan. No sizzling smoking deliciousness. Then some canned refried beans. The funnies thing is they piled enough gross chicken and veggies on the little fajita pan then gave us 2 to Tortillas? No joke there was enough food for 5 people.
We ended up going to the royal farms down the street for dinner.
The only reason I gave it 2 stars was the service very good and everything came out quickly. Probably because it was all pre made and had been sitting...
