Food is just ok, nothing special, a bit pricey, but I would give 0 for the service if possible. Very rude waitress, wanted to give a try myself although my friends didnât recommend the place, ended up regretting going there. Will never go back and donât recommend going there until they learn how to properly serve guests.
UPDATE after the owners response below. The owner's PUBLIC rude response below proves my concern/negative experience, unfortunately. The owner clearly cannot tolerate constructive feedback. I shared my experience and feedback thinking they could work on improving their customer service, unfortunately looks like that will not be the case. I have to correct all the false statements that the owner made about our visit. First of all, I personally didn't order Beshbarmak and didn't mention anything about it in my review (my friend ordered it, her expectations were not meet either, but that's another story and she can leave a review if she want to share her opinion). Secondly, my garage door records show that I left my home for only 3 hours which includes almost 1,5 hours of roundtrip driving time to there, which means we spent only little more than 1,5 hours in there, not FOUR hours as stated by the owner for some reason! Unfortunately, that long drive with kids didn't worth it! Thirdly, we were NOT seated on the sofas, and we even put cartoons to our kids in our entire visit there, so our kids were sitting properly on their chairs. If the owner calls the kids normal behavior "breach of basic etiquette" then this place is a BIG NO GO for families. Last but not least, yes, we did let our kids to dance a little bit (looks like that was not welcomed either) while we were trying to digest the waitresses rudeness which was shocking to all of us. First, the waitress brought the check little after we were served our food while were still eating, we found it unusual. but then while we were not done with our food the waitress started to pick up all the dishes, glasses, spoons/forks basically everything from the table without even asking from us. We found it unpleasant and rude, to the question my friend asked why are you taking plates and glasses from our table the waitress said that she would bring the clean ones, the clean plates and glasses never arrived. Note that all of these were happening in less than 2 hours which includes our wait time for the food being served.
Nevertheless, I wish good luck to this place and really hope that they try to listed to their customers...
Read moreAtmosphere: The ambiance & decor was inviting. Beautiful accent wall & wall paper. Fancy plush chairs. But it's a small place. Potential to fill up quickly. There were some bugs, either gnats or fruit flies, hovering around our food. Slightly annoying. Appreciated the prayer area. Thank you for that. The menu was like a colorful mini cookbook. Nice touch!
Service: Sarah was helpful in answering questions. Limited English comprehension caused some confusion. For example, I was told I would get rice but it never got served. We met Batu at the end when he laid out the prayer rug for us. Bright young man.
Food: The soup was good. Although we didn't get them at the same time. My friend's came out much later, after her entrĂŠe.
The restaurant is named "The Plove." We drove half hour to have some delicious Uzbek Plove. Imagine our utter disappointment that at 6pm they were all out of the plove. This is one of the main dishes which Uzbek/Tajik people are known for. If you're going to name the restaurant after it, then you should always continue to make it. The restaurant was open until 11pm. But we were told that they ran out at 3pm! How? Why??
So we had to contend with other selections. We ordered a somsa. There were 3 different types listed but again 2 were not available. The somsa was very oily. Maybe they're supposed to be like that?
Also ordered a "hot salad." It tasted exactly like Chinese teriyaki mixed vegetables with beef. It was tasty although the meat was a bit tough. We asked if we would get Uzbek rice with it & were reassured we would. But we didn't get it. We also ordered salmon "kabobs." These were not kabobs but filet cubes. They were not very exceptional nor seemed authentic to the Uzbek cuisine.
Food was on the expensive side. Sarah asked if we wanted water. I said yes. We got charged $1.50 each for a 16oz water bottle! No free water here.
In one of the responses to another review the owner mentioned that bread is served upon request. It makes it seem like bread is complimentary. It is not.
The place has potential. But I'm not convinced that I would drive 30 mins for a...
Read moreThe worst dining experience Iâve ever had in the U.S.!
When we arrived, we stood at the reception for over 15 minutes with no staff around to seat us.
After a long wait, a staff member finally came, said she would clean a table, then disappeared for another 10+ minutes. She seated us at a table for 4 people even though we were 6 with kids, but we said fine, weâll manage.
We waited about 40 minutes before anyone came to take our order, and that only happened because I called the waitress overâshe didnât come on her own.
Communication was extremely difficult since none of the staff spoke English well.
We specifically ordered a salad without onions, but it came with onions. When we complained, they replaced it with just cucumbers and tomatoes.
The soup arrived cold, and the meat inside was raw and pink, which was absolutely disgusting. When I mentioned it, the waitress said, âNo, thatâs fat,â as if I couldnât tell the difference. I tried to cut it with a fork and spoon, but it was hard as a rock.
We asked for bread more than 5 times, but it never came.
Another staff member who claimed to âspeak a little Englishâ came and tried to take our order again, even though we had already ordered. I asked him again for bread, he nodded like he understood, and then never brought it.
We told them to bring out any dishes that were ready, but still, all of our food came cold.
The waitress who took our order looked tired, uninterested, and clearly had no motivation to work.
What shocked us the most was that the table next to us, about 10 people speaking Uzbek, got their full order in less than 20 minutes, while we were still sitting there with nothing.
Bottom line: terrible service, unacceptable delays, cold and poorly prepared food, disrespectful treatment, and obvious favoritism. I will never come back to this...
