If you’re looking for a spot with stunning waterfront view, La Cueva del Mar certainly delivers. Nestled right on the edge of the marina, the dog-friendly patio offers great views and a chill atmosphere. If you prefer A/C they have indoor seating as well. They had live music which could have been skipped - I thought I was being punked by the bad singing. Nonetheless, it’s the kind of place where you want to linger over a drink and enjoy the scenery.
As for the food—it’s decent, though not particularly memorable. They have a large variety of Puerto Rican food options on the menu. I tried the mofonfo with octopus and conch salad; the mofongo was soft but the seafood was bland and rubbery. We also tried the steak and shrimp; both were okay, but nothing special. We tried a few arepas and the jueyes (crab) one was too salty to consume.
Service was friendly but the food takes a while to come out.
Overall, the place is worth visiting for the ambiance and location alone. It’s a great place to catch up with friends and family, as long as your expectations for the food are not too high.
Parking: check in at the security gate by letting them know you’re eating at the restaurant and there’s a fair amount of free parking...
Read moreI came here for lunch with my boyfriend. It was partly sunny and not too hot so we decided to eat al fresco. They have these huge sun umbrellas and adorable patio looking furniture. The set up was very comfortable and plenty of space between the other tables. The view was of the ocean neatly covered by parked boats. Some small mountains in the distance where apparently there's a neighborhood build on them. We ordered frozen drinks, one mango and the other was parcha (passion fruit). If you have a sweet tooth go for the mango. It's really tasty. I got the parcha semi sweet but delicious and creamy. We both ordered fish dishes mine was filete de dorado al ajillo with tostones. Mmm it was so rich in flavor, just the right amount of garlic and the cream sauce I used to dip my tostones. My BF got the one in coconut sauce it had a light coconut taste also creamy the fish was tender he had a yucafongo which was wwll cooked. Toasty on the outside and oh so soft and moist on the inside. The server was great. She got our orders right. She didn't forget anything, she was fast, friendly, and confident. I would love to come here at night or during...
Read moreWe have been here many times over the years and enjoyed it. However, they have gone down hill fast. We were there last week and it was AWFUL! First, we were completely ignored for 15 minutes before anyone brought a menu or took a drink order. Once we did order drinks, they brought one and 20 minutes later I had to ask for mine. Second, we waited a full hour for our food and when we finally did get it, it was cold. Third, we asked the waitress to split our ticket and she didn't even come close to getting it right, but we were so tired by that time, we didn't ask to have it corrected. Finally, I asked for change and got $1 and $5 dollar bills so was forced to either over tip or under tip.
The week before we were there and they had a band playing LOUD music. I want to talk to my dinner companions, not yell over the top of music. If I want a concert, I'll go to one.
They need to get their act together and train their wait staff. We...
