Fancy Bagels — Restaurant in Farmington

I started going to Fancy Bagle when most of the girls that work there We're still in diapers! Never had a problem with service as long as i've been going there. Until today 7/17/24 between 9/10 o'clock am this morning. Don't know her name, she is new.I've never seen her before.But her attitude is attractious mind you we never spoke.She said nothing to me Just looked at me with an attitude of absolute disgust.Never acknowledged my existence said nothing at all!? While I Stood there 4/5 minutes she answered the phone, she was not on the phone as l was waiting. So she had planty of time to me tell me one moment I'll be right with you, some form of service etiquette she then proceed to answere the phone twice put those tickets in front of me. As she continued to totally ignore me? I understand as a customer We need to have patience and I've always had patience.I've never had a problem with anyone in there.These girls know me very well. They know my name they know my family.They are all working very hard. I don't think i'm special. But I do know there is no room or any excuse for a nasty attitude and disgusting customer service or to act like she did! I walked out.She never said anything to me. I will speak to the owner when I get a chance when I see him there working hard in back as he always does. I want to give this place 5 stars because the bagels are really great! I've been to a few bagel shops in the area and Fancy Bagels has a superior product. But, as many have noted, the customer service could use some work. My (fairly simple) order has been messed up on multiple occasions. Last week, my husband and I ordered two breakfast bagels with egg, cheese and sausage. That's pretty simple. When we got home, we found that my bagel didn't have any sausage. It was just egg and cheese. That's frustrating enough, but we were charged for the sandwich we ordered, not the sandwich we received. Recently when I visited, the girl taking my order, preparing my bagel and ringing me out didn't make eye contact and barely acknowledged my presence. I gathered from the conversation she was having with a coworker that she was preoccupied with another order that had been phoned in and wasn't yet collected. Sure, that's annoying if you have an order that's just waiting for someone to pick it up, but while you are directly interacting with another customer, it's rude to overtly ignore them. I was also a little disappointed that they use Styrofoam plates for customers eating there. Surely it can't be that much cheaper than paper plates, which would be considerably more environmentally friendly.

Major issues with this staff. The manager Rosie is here and allowing the girls to walk from the back to the front of the store with gloves on while preparing our sandwiches. She literally allows the girls to not tie their hair back so the hair is flowing over the bagels and salad mix on the counter. Also allowing them to eat on the floor right where the bagels are sitting in the case she was eating bacon. Vegetarians like myself do not want to see bacon next to my bagel or to say the least you are cooking other people's food that you just ate next to. They should be changing their gloves way more often and we watched the one making our food take the slab of frozen meat right from the cooler and place it on the grill then with the same gloves on go directly to the fridge under the counter and take out other ingredients for our hot sandwiches. All of this without changing gloves one time is horrendous. Also pulling up her sleeve. Other than all of this stuff about proper food handling and sanitary issues the health inspector would have a field day with the food is good. The prices are awesome for the food portions you get. Plus no bathroom .. thought CT law states where there is prepared food there has to be a public restroom for customers. But who knows. Great food tastes great just needs to have better service and understanding of...
