My significant other and I went there a couple weeks ago. Our first impression are as follows:
The place is pretty big! The ambiance is great. Everything looks clean and modern and yet has a homey feel. For it being such a big place, it didn’t feel cold and drafty. Even when sitting by the windows.
We felt safe being there as everyone was spaced out and everything was clean. Even the bathroom was very clean!
The servers were very friendly! We asked for suggestions and they seemed like they were very knowledgeable of the menu and had their own recommendations.
The first time we went we had the chips and beer butter. I personally loved them!
My significant other had the mild wings. He thought they were good. They had good flavor, but he would’ve enjoyed a crunchier outside on the wing.
We also had four corners burger and it was very good. It had a good charred grilled flavor and was very juicy.
I had their sangria and it was very good.
The second time we went our experience wasn’t as great as the first time. My significant other ordered the wings and asked for them to be a bit crispier on the outside. He enjoyed them and said he would definitely order them again the same way.
I ordered their spicy chicken sandwich and was highly disappointed. I was aware it was a chicken thigh sandwich, but was willing to give it a shot. When it arrived I cut it down the middle and it didn’t seem like it was cooked all the way. I thought maybe it was just that specific area and tried to cut elsewhere and it was just tough to cut and nervy. When I told the server he said it was a thigh piece so the meat is darker. I am well aware of that! Lol who doesn’t know about thigh meat? it is a sandwich though, so the pieces should not be so tough and chewy. The server asked if I wanted to have it remade and I said I much rather have a burger, as I was just completely turned off from the chicken sandwich. The four corners burger was just as good as the first time. I should have went with that from the beginning.
My significant other had the steak with risotto and asparagus. The plate is somewhere between $25 and $27. He asked if he could substitute the risotto for mashed potato and was told they don’t have mashed potatoes. And it’s quite understandable during this pandemic and with limited menu options. He enjoyed the steak, however the risotto was just okay. He said it lacked flavor. I will also say that for the price the plate should include at least a house salad.
When we got the check the server removed the spicy sandwich, however I was a bit disappointed to see that the manager or owner who was there and I heard him greeting other people, did not come to our table to greet us and/ or address our negative experience. I think it’s very important to make sure you leave your guest with a good experience even if at that moment it wasn’t so great. The simple act of acknowledging a guest could be the difference on whether or not they return or recommend the establishment to their family...
Read moreWell, I wanted to love this place, especially since I had a soft spot for the owners father and uncles place. Don’t get me wrong, the inside is really cool and very clean and the staff is really nice! I just want to start off by saying they were out of all fish and all wings when I was there, so I sadly didn’t get to try the wings. I originally decided to try the food because I saw a sponsored post advertising the Baby back ribs. The picture looked absolutely delicious. The actual plate I received was so underwhelming I only took a few bites and didn’t eat the rest. The ribs were NOT fresh and very dry. The Mac n Cheese was ok, nothing special (maybe add fresh bread crumbs and butter and bake it to take it to the next level) The baked beans, while tasty, were undercooked and on the hard side. The biggest disappointment was the corn bread. I remember seeing people go crazy about how good the corn bread looked and I completely agreed, in the photo it looked oven browned, covered in butter and mouth watering, what I got was cold, raw and just shocking. I also ordered the French onion soup. It was just ok, I’d have kept the Oasis recipe because that was to die for. I know they want a new and fresh take and it’s not the same owner per say, but surely they understand how amazing that soup was. It’s what sells right? Also had the hummus plate. Overall it was great, I’d just salt the hummus a tiny bit. Loved the pickled veggies and the pita was perfect. The cocktail my partner got was fantastic and the cider I had was great. I was allowed to sample the cider to make sure it was sweet and i appreciated that. The staff was super nice and friendly. Overall I feel like it may have been an off night but if I were the owner I’d want to know when I fell short. I didn’t complain to anyone, it didn’t seem like the right thing to do so I graciously wrapped the food and took it home and someone else tried it. I will absolutely be back because the menu selections are creative and I want to try more. I’d recommend this place with the expectation next time is better, and if it is, I will update this review because I know these guys know how to run a restaurant, that’s all I’ve ever known them to do, and they...
Read moreWe chose to host a private event at Five Corners Bistro because of the location and the food. We wanted somewhere to host our rehearsal dinner that had great food but wasn’t super fancy and stuffy.
I worked with Michelle via email to book our event and she was very responsive. I signed a contract and paid the deposit well in advance of our event (approx. 7 months in advance). We booked it because we genuinely liked the food and drinks here, but also, their pricing was very competitive in comparison to other restaurants we were considering. Unfortunately, the pricing of their plated dinner menus did increase by the time of our event. We were not notified, which was surprising – especially since we had signed a contract with a specific price at that time, but there was small print on the paperwork that stated prices are subject to change when booking 60 days in advance. So, that is on us.
We decided to continue with our event here. As we inquired about alcohol pricing (whether to do an open bar, cash bar, or having bottles of wine on the tables), Michelle offered another option to us – filling carafes with their wine on tap. We loved that idea and moved forward with having a white and red wine carafe on each table with refills up to a certain cash value. We assumed the pricing would be the same as what was on their menu. However, as our event date got closer, we learned from Michelle that the prices are actually higher than what was on the menu.
On our event date, everything went smoothly. We had our own private area for our guests to mingle. I really appreciated the little touches – they had printed out special paper menus with a personalized touch, congratulating us. The food was great, as always! I also really liked that we were able to have a wide variety of choices on our menu – other restaurants typically will only offer a few choices for a private event menu. We were able to have 6 entrée choices and two desserts, along with a salad to start.
Although we still had a great rehearsal dinner here, I think there could be room for improvement with transparency when booking...
