This is one of my favorite, locally-owned spots in Dubois County, and it’s definitely my favorite food spot in Ferdinand! I haven’t visited for lunch yet (they added lunch in May 2024), but the breakfast is great. It’s reasonably priced, delicious, home-cooked breakfast food. The service is quick too, which is great as well. My daughter and I like to come in and bring a game or activity to do while we’re waiting for food, but we usually don’t end up with a ton of time for our activity before the food gets there (Definitely a bonus when you’re out to eat with a hungry, impatient kiddo).
The service is what sets Cascade Cafe apart from other restaurants in my opinion. Every time I visit, I’ve seen the owner making his rounds to all of the patrons to greet them and to have a chat. These folks are some of the kindest and friendliest individuals I’ve ever met. Rob, Angie, Anna, and Elizabeth are always there to greet you with a smile and a sincere appreciation for your visit. This is a family-run business, and all four family members (The Wilson’s) are always working their tails off when I’ve come in to eat. They employ a handful of other staff that I can’t give a shout-out to by name, but they’re all so wonderful as well. If you’re in need of a good meal and some genuine human connection, Cascade Cafe is the...
Read moreNot sure what to highlight first, the people or the food! Food was a solid 9.2/10, but the people blew the scales out of the water! We were welcomed as soon as we came in, and you could tell the owner was humble and grateful to have us. Then as soon as we were seared, miss Jamie came and interacted with the entire family. Our kids are typically bashful but she made them laugh and they got comfortable enough where they started telling stories. It'd only be better if we could have kidnapped her to spend the day at Holiday World with us, she was an absolute joy.
Back to the food! They claim to be famous for biscuits and gravy and their homemade cinnamon rolls. I took that as a personal challenge and, goodness, they did not disappoint! The biscuits and gravy are only 2nd to a family recipe. The cinnamon roll was phenomenal, to the point my kids stole the last half from me. Outside of those two specialties, the bacon was very crispy, including the fat, but not burnt (as a parent we really appreciate for potential choking issues). The sausage patties and hash browns were also top notch. The 'low' point was toast, but come on, it's toast...what can one say about that?
We will 100% be returning each year for our annual Holiday World trip. We are thankful they welcomed us and treated us truly...
Read moreWe were on our way to Holiday World. My husband looked up breakfast restaurants on google and came across Cascade Cafe. There were 6 of us and I thought for sure we would be waiting forever for a table. But it only took about 15 minutes to get us seated. The waitresses were all so nice and helpful. Everyone had a smile. The food came out fast and was delicious! They do have a pretty small menu and only offer scrambled eggs on Saturday. But that is genius to help get people fed quickly, knowing it’s a busy time. We spoke with the owner, who was also very nice! He gave us suggestions of other places to visit and invited us back. He was genuinely kind and I appreciate that so much! Especially since myself and my husband are heavily tattooed, and our oldest daughter has several facial piercings, people tend to treat us differently. We felt completely welcomed and appreciated as much as every other person there. There was a large family with several small children that had come in, when they saw how full the restaurant was, they walked back out. One of the waitresses ran out to stop them and assured them they would have a table soon, I thought that was very nice. I was even more surprised when I got the bill! The prices are more than reasonable! I highly suggest you visit this...
