Lupita's Authentic Mexican Food — Restaurant in Ferguson Township

Very friendly upon arrival. We ordered $60 of food - 2 beef tostadas, 3 empanadas (2 beef, 1 chicken), 2 chicken flautas, 2 tacos (1 beef, 1 pork), 2 churros. (Also a slice of tres leches and soda from their fridge.) The cashier rang us up, and handed us our receipt. The receipt lists out the item purchased, but does not itemize the type of item. (Read 3 tacos, not 1 chicken taco, 1 cheese taco, 1 beef taco, etc.) The chef handed us our boxed items, and we went back to the car. As we opened the boxes in the parking lot, checked our items. We realized that out of the 11 prepared items we ordered, we were missing just one - a beef tostada. We went back in to let them know we were missing an item. The cashier met us with an abrupt “No you’re not, I watched her put it in the box.” We said we would go back to the car and bring in the 3 bags to show them that one item was missing, and he said “No I’ll just give you a free one” with arrogant sarcasm. We had no problem spending $60, so I’m not quite sure what we gain by lying about one missing $3 item out of 11 requested items. Ultimately, the chef prepared and handed us the beef tostada. After we got back to the car the 2nd time, we bit into the empanadas (dough with meat which is sealed and fried) to distinguish between the 2 flavors (beef and chicken), only to find that we were given chicken and cheese instead, and were missing the beef altogether. Because of the first experience, we didn’t bother going in to complain. The receipt isn’t itemized so we aren’t able to prove the item we ordered, so we figured it was no use anyway.

The kid at the front of Asian roots I believe, AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE! Can’t tell you how many times he smiled thanked me for my service and twice was told to have a wonderful night. I should mention I’m visiting from Kansas City (go chiefs) so finding a good taco spot out of town is priority no matter where I go. THIS IS THE ONE. Chefs kiss only thing I didn’t like was the tortilla but that’s just me I love the corn tortillas is all. Now to the food. I got 4 asada tacos that were touched with loooove. The meat almost had a bbq-ish taste to it which threw me off but caught my love buds quickly. In my city they’re very… stingy with their sauce. This place let you get your own. I tried 3. I will unshamefully admit I used my fingers to lick the rest of the sauces out even after my tacos were finished. SO GOOD! This place was definitely a hit surely not a miss. Tried Lupita's for the first time, and I'm sure to return again. They host a simple, straightforward menu of items that can be bought individually or or in groups of 3-4 as a meal. I chose to sample a taco (slow-cooked beef), sopes (chicken), and tamale (pork). All were delicious (especially the sopes!!), although next time I plan to try the gorditas which my friend had and recommended. We went as a large group, and everyone enjoyed, while some of us planned our next venture here before the meal was finished.

Don't let the Unimart fool you, this is worth stopping at on its own. There are bar, booth, and table seating available. Staff are very friendly and inviting. They have their own homemade sauces (hot sauces, guac) that add an extra layer of flavor. Prices are...
