Saw this place pop on my IG, so decided to try it out with some Ford EV buddies. The ambiance is an open conference air of refreshment. We were thinking how it would be great to start having team meetings and collabs here once or twice a month. We had the pleasure of an interior patio seat which was open to the outside new spring landscaping decor. Exactly what we needed being stuck in the office all week! We had immediate recognition by our server and checked out a few fresh draft craft beers are drinks. Beer was cold and drinks on point. We got the coney egg rolls since a few engineers were from the south to give them a flavor of Detroit. To our pleasure we found out they are scratch made daily and absolutely scream Detroit culinary with every bite. Crab Arancini was flavored perfectly and had a lot of fresh crab and risotto in every bite. The crew was happy! For mains we tried the Walleye, Jerk Chicken and Short Rib Sandwich. All three were fantastic! The guys keep talking about the tenderness of the short rib. So lean and tender! I had to poll the crew and we all decided that this place definitely falls into the category of fairly priced, established culinary and worth all the hype for...

Went to downtown Ferndale with my husband and two of our friends and made this our first stop. We just came in for drinks as we planned on bar hopping. Cocktail menu is super limited, with 4 of the 9 options having either jalapeño or tajin so if you're not a fan of spicy cocktails you have even less options. My girlfriend and I were disappointed by the lack of sweet options and asked if they could make us Cosmopolitans which they did. My husband got the Cloud 9 and my girlfriends date got the Sugar n Spice. The drinks looked good once they were delivered but after we all tasted our own, we all discovered they were not great. The cosmos tasted just like straight Vodka and the other two drinks tasted exclusively of liquor too. There was no other flavors going on and for $17-$18 per drink that was very disappointing. We had considered getting food before getting our drinks, but after tasting them immediately asked for the check. We had just came from Alchemi in Royal Oak where their drinks were around $15-$17 but were amazing and totally worth the price. If you're going out for drinks, I'd leave Barrel House off your list. Service was quick and...

Had an interesting experience with my wife and friends this evening.

In short my PREGNANT wife was kicked out during her SISTERS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION because she could not present an ID. She was not drinking. Other people in our group were drinking but she was not.

There are no laws in the state of Michigan stating somebody needs to PROVE their age to be present in a bar. Typically people are ID'd when they PURCHASE ALCOHOL.

If you have age requirements they should be posted. If not it seems like discrimination or enforcement is dependent on the mood of the cranky old lady that bartends.

When I questioned this grumpy old lady she yelled at me, than unpcharged me for the 1 drink I was allowed to purchase for my wife's sister during her birthday celebration after my PREGNANT wife exited the building.

YOU SHOULD POST YOUR RULES. DON'T NOT LEAVE ENFORCEMENT UP TO VERBAL HISSY FITS BY MANAGERS.

This is coming from a person with roughly 10 years of hospitality experience.

0/10 will not reccomend and will go far out of my way to tell people how ridiculous this...

All star ratings are for the bathroom, not the establishment. Barrel House is the exact same layout as its predecessor Dino's. If you're not familiar, that puts the door to the bathrooms quite close to the bar, and the door is slow to close, so people standing outside get a nice view if your butt while standing at the urinals. Proximity to the dining room aside, the bathroom is perfectly adequate, 2 urinals, 1 poop shed. Manual faucet, but automatic soap and paper towel. No foot pull on the door but it's close enough to the trashcan that you can open the door with your paper towel and then toss it on your way out. The bathroom does appear to be thrown together a bit, paint drips or caulking in some random spots Overall it could suffice for a number 2 is you must.

Service great, food arrived quickly, everyone friendly. I recommend on your ricotta dip to actually reduce the ricotta and add more garlic/caper/tomato mix. I added salt and pepper to mine and that was goof. For fish and chips, recommend adding coleslaw. Now the breading on this one is interesting it's made of salt and vinegar potato chips. While I think this simply just isn't for me, I will say the filet was pretty dry although the taste of the filet and portion sizes good. Fries were great. The tartar sauce is a dill sauce and it comes with a good juicy lemon. I think adding a coleslaw can help cut the dryness though as it qas altogether a dry combination. Again though on that breading I think some of that has to do with my personal taste.
