Luisa's Artisanal Street Food — Restaurant in Ferndale

Luis‘s restaurant is in an easy to get to place in downtown Ferndale at Woodward and nine Mile, so after a walk-through the rest it was easy to decide to come here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We had heard about this restaurant from some local friends and then a short presentation from the business owner Luisa at 1 million cups and decided to give it a try.

I ordered the dill pickle soup, which was hot and delicious and very tangy… Delicious! I wanted the super salad, But they were missing some of the main ingredients so Luisa offered to make me a custom salad with the same dressing and charged a few dollars less. Great customer service! And the salad was absolutely fantastic. Dijon mustard face dressing complemented the doll potato soup perfectly.

my partner got the chicken and potato calzone, which was extremely comforting the creamy mushroom sauce, the cheddar gruyere, Mushroom medley and chicken and potatoes. Their mushroom melody is made up of Cremini, white button, portobello, and oyster mushrooms… The perfect land! The calzone dough was crispy and soft, and then warmed on a griddle. Ended up sharing it. It was so big. It was a delicious lunch overall.

We ate in the small but cute restaurant space, and Luisa came and visited with us for a few minutes and offered a shortbread and caramel sauce cookie before we left.

Highly recommend eating here. The prices are great, atmosphere is chill and the jazzy music complimented our meal. We hear there is a robust carry out business & they’re open every day except Monday. Check their website for updated hours 22851 Woodward Avenue, Ferndale

The reviews were great on this new restaurant in downtown Ferndale so we walked with our family up the street to give it a try. Here's how our experience broke down.

We LOVED the fruit salad slushies. They were delicious. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean, but it took WAY too long for our food to come. One of the expectations with "street food" is that it will be relatively quick. This was not.

Now the food. Okay. This is an adult restaurant. There is no kids menu, so we got the things our 10 year olds would probably like. The 3 cheese cascione was a little strong so that was a no go. Both of them liked the tuna salad piadina however.

My wife's loaded veggie cascione was bland. It needed more seasoning. My loaded steak cascione was pretty good though.

This is how our individual ratings turned out: Dad - 4 stars Mom - 3 stars 10 year old girl - 3 stars 10 year old boy - 2 stars (To be fair, he's the only one who didn't have the fruit salad slushie) Average Family...

Truly my favorite place to eat! I found out about Luisa’s because of the hardcore shows i attend booked by Bellas Beatdown Bunker. This food will leave you craving it for months! My go-to is the steak and cheese cascione. I have never been a steak & cheese or even onion fan but this completely changed my mind! Luisa’s allows me to get out of my comfort zone and try new foods. EVERY time i’m hungry i always want to eat here, if i lived closer i would get it so frequently. Not only is the food good but the environment is fabulous. Employees and owner are extremely kind! I recently attended the indoor show inside the restaurant and it went amazingly. It’s also very clean in there :) i’m very excited to come to upcoming shows as well as one i’m vending at here and purchase so much food haha.
