Nopal — Restaurant in Ferndale

The cooks used to know what they were doing at this establishment when it comes to Prawns. Place is not the same since ownership changed hands. Haven't been in several months due to change in atmosphere. Sad as I always enjoyed going there weekly.

01/23/18: Returned this past weekend and atmosphere was much more pleasant. May try food this weekend.

3/10/18: Have returned for dinner three occasions and the food is back to its previous delicious flavorful status. Wait staff is friendly and more relaxed again.

6/27/18: After the Karaoke host was fired during his shift I/we no longer support this establishment. They could have given it more time to catch on and advertised properly (add to lighter sign in the corner of property) or waited until AFTER his shift to tell him they were letting him go due to lack of interest. I'd say 8 people singing Karaoke is pretty good interest for it being every other Friday. To top that off our meals sucked! The worst Pollo A La Crema I have ever had there!

Service wasn't that great. The single bartender/waitress was working her but off trying to serve about 25 guests by herself.

It was so loud in the main dining area that we moved outside where we sat with more loud drunk people on our right and people smoking cigarettes on our left but at least we didn't have to yell to hear eachother anymore. I ordered a Carne Esada Quesadilla with rice and beans and my date ordered a Chicken Burrito plate. I received a large plate of dry, stale rice and refried beans that were equally awful. How was my quesadilla you ask? Well I didn't get one ... I got a taco plate that I didn't order but the tacos were actually pretty decent (kinda salty but not horrible) so that's why I'm giving 2 stars not 1 star. She said her food was "okay" which we all know is a woman's way of saying it sucked. Our bill was $60 for just our 3 beers, her Chicken Burrito plate, my Rice and beans and my three small tacos. The food had already been shoddy on a prior visit but decided to stop in for drinks on a whim. Big mistake. We all ordered margaritas of various flavors on the rocks. However, three blended drinks arrived, one an entirely different flavor than ordered. I (kindly) informed the bartender I had ordered a different flavor to which his seemingly perturbed reply was something along the lines of "I thought you said blended lime." Nothing more was said before he left the table with drink in hand. He did correct this but due to the cold reception we received after that exchange my friends were too afraid to ask for what they had actually ordered. His demeanor did not improve from that point. I noted that he acknowledged and thanked another table as they left; when we left...just crickets. I tip well (at least 30 percent) for good service; he was lucky to have gotten the 15 I believe my friends left for him. Mediocre food is one thing; horrible service is unacceptable and I won't...
