My wife and I dinned here Saturday. Took a while before we saw a host. Once seated took a while before we were greeted by a server. I ordered the Reuben. My wife ordered the avocado toast with gluten-free bread. She must have gotten butt of a tiny gluten-free loaf. It was a pretty meager portion for $18. My Reuben was rather dry, which is supposed to be the opposite of a Reuben. The bread seem like it was put in a toaster instead of griddle on a flat top with butter, very small amount of dressing. I wasn’t really impressed. Fries were good and my wife liked her eight potato halves she was served. Our server never came back to fill our waters, and the cherry on top was the 5% fee for a a minimum wage in Flagstaff. The minimum wage is the cost of doing business and Flagstaff raise your prices and stop slipping your patrons hidden fees to justify needing to pay your staff, and if you are gonna charge that fee, make sure your staff are trained to serve and follow portion control. It wasn’t even that busy but we’ve been trying to give this restaurant a try for the last few years (it used to be really good) and I think we’re just gonna cross it off our list of places to eat in Flagstaff. Too many disappointments trying to recapture what...
Read moreI came here with friends for breakfast and it wasn’t as great as we had hoped, we saw good reviews and decided to go. I figured there would be a wait to be seated which is understandable. I had asked them if they would be able to seat a party of 7, they said yes but did not let me know about the 18% gratuity charge for large parties (not sure how big parties have to be for this to apply). This charge is already added into your total separate from the tip and we didn’t know until we paid for our food and saw our receipt. Honestly the breakfast wasn’t worth the cost we paid for it, we could’ve gone anywhere else to get the same food for a cheaper price (or I could have made breakfast at home). They also charge a 3% credit/debit card fee so it’s better to bring cash, but if you have a large party make sure to bring enough cash to cover the gratuity and your meal. Also the orange juice wasn’t good because we noticed it came from the bar tap, and there’s no espresso drinks they only have drip coffee. I guess the only cool thing about this place was the decor and the owls everywhere, other than that there’s better...
Read moreThis was a real disappointment to say the least. Service and food was horrible. And…, we were charged separately for everything. OVER PRICED. And our server Mk P was not too helpful. She was unsure of what was going on (like first day on job). We ordered Eggs (basted), biscuits, and gravy, (the gravy had a plastic taste to it). The whites in my eggs were runny and it took forever for the cook to make them again. Whoever was cooking or in charge did not know how to make basted eggs! And… it took forever to get them back and they still missed it. At least the whites were done and not runny. NOT IMPRESSED!!! I had to eat my entire breakfast off separate plates as they were brought from the kitchen to our table where my wife and I were sitting. I thought I was eating a progressive breakfast, if you know what I mean. I saw a sign that said… “everything in here is for sale.” Maybe the owner should sale the restaurant to someone that know how to do it better (RIGHT). I will never be back, nor would I recommend this place to anyone. SORRY. “THE TOASTED OWL CAFÉ (East Flagstaff, AZ.) IS BURNT...
