Big John Steak & Onion — Restaurant in Flint

I drove over 10 miles from northwest Mt. Morris because the hours online clearly state this location closes at 10:00 PM. I arrived at 8:50 PM — the OPEN sign was still on — but the door was locked. The employee inside, a man around 20–30 years old, mouthed “we’re closed” and waved me away with an unprofessional hand gesture.

I double-checked my phone to make sure I was at the right location and confirmed the hours listed online: open until 10:00 PM. Frustrated, I called to politely let them know the online hours might need to be corrected so customers aren’t misled. The person who answered was extremely rude — when asked why they closed early, their response was, “Because we want to,” before hanging up.

I called again the next day during normal business hours to speak with a manager. The person who answered the phone immediately said “HANG ON!” and placed me on hold for nearly five minutes before I finally gave up and hung up myself.

This level of disrespect and disregard for customers is completely unacceptable. Between the false advertising of business hours, rude employees, and total lack of professionalism, it’s clear this location has no concern for customer experience.

I truly hate to give up on Big John’s — I’ve always loved your sandwiches — but this particular location has lost my business. I want to point out that the Davison location has always been excellent, with friendly staff and great service. Whatever management team runs Dort Hwy could learn a lot from them.

Been coming here since I first moved to Flint. This is based on the worst experience I've had here. Was told I can't use the $5 off $20 or more purchase because I got combos. The coupon says any purchase by the way, see picture for reference. I've used that coupon for the exact same order multiple times. So obviously I was like, what? One of my sandwiches was made wrong literally by the person who took the order (thank got it isn't an alium allergy, just an autistic girl with texture aversion to grilled onions.)Over all it was just not as bussin as it usually is. Going to seek out another steak sandwich joint. Need more consistency, having cooked meat in a half pan for literally hours makes the seasoned meat too salty and dry af after its retouched on the grill. Way...

Greasy. Worst BJ EVER by the time we got our subs home they were so soggy it was nothing but mush the meat and the ingredients for falling off the bread could not hold it on anymore then when we called in we got a rest about making us new ones or a refund and then we finally had to call and talk to the manager who said go ahead and get a refund and when we did go back a few days later they said there was no talk of a refund for us our name was not out of paper and then when I argued about it they finally did give it to us yes refuse to eat there ever again will go for a drive to the next Big John's down the road.
