Chens Chinese Bistro — Restaurant in Florence

I hardly do a low star review. The reasoning for the two stars is as follows: food is average, and I can live with that..because its in the eye or should I say in the mouth of beholder, our taste buds and food likes dislikes. However. not once. and we were in this restaurant several times,were the waitresses friendly helpful or courteous. In fact, some do not speak a word of english or choose not to! We have had to call over the owner or manager of the restaurant to communicate. Also they do not make any substititions. All in all not a pleasant experience. It is convenient for the residents of the community it is located, as there are very few eating establishments at this particular strip mall. I do hope the manager will read this review and take it in a good natured way, because many of our neighbors also do not do repeat business either. Newbies arriving in the community do visit, but hardly any return business...

Wife and I have been going here for six plus years and normally food is okay. We always get egg rolls and crab rangoons and lately the coconut chicken but that's not what it is called. The last three times we have ordered instead of egg rolls they have given us spring rolls. Their spring rolls are not good and they end up in the garbage, because who wants to go back for two egg rolls. This time not only did we get spring rolls instead of egg rolls again, the coconut chicken was way over cooked to almost burnt! So I think it's time to drive to Coolidge from now on unfortunately, at least we know we are getting the right food when we go there and it's cooked properly. Sad, because we always liked Chen's even though it does get some bad reviews. Only wish Lotus Garden would open down here, we miss that place from up in AJ or Mesa, they were both really good, and portions...

My husband got the Mongolian beef and I got the chicken lo me in and honey sesame chicken. The oil that they used tasted very chemically. I felt very nauseated the rest of the night. The next morning, it was official, had food poisoning. Was throwing up. Definitely do not recommend to anyone. Husband was also experiencing this. I don't know if it was because it was late and they were just trying to give us the food that was sitting out all day, and it spoiled. But the oil they used to cook, did not taste right at all. We didn't even finish our plates because of the chemical taste. It was supposed to be a birthday dinner for me, and I had been craving Chinese for like a year and so this was supposed to be good and this had 4 stars and good reviews. I was just really...
