Mixed results on Tex-Mex fare here. My Chili Rellenos was pretty tasty, but the Poblano hadn't been properly prepared before frying. As a result, the pepper's natural liquids made the egg coating soggy and gave the overall dish a "liquidy" (watered-down, for want of a better word) consistency and taste. Conversely, my cheese enchilade was tasty, though I could have used a little better cheese filling-to-tortilla ratio, and some more flavor in accompanying sauce.
My refried beans and rice were pretty much standard fare. Taste was okay, but textures of both dishes needed some work. I prefer my spanish rice to be more fluffy than what I was served; the rice grains were a bit too mushy and clumping...though the flavor was nice on the buds. The refried's consistency was too thin...needed some thickening up! But, again, they had a decent flavor.
The opening gratis fare of salsa and chips was enjoyable. The salsa is fresh, made in-house and has some nice heat to it. I enjoyed it enough to take some home with me. The chips were a little too coarse for my liking, but my wife disagreed with me, saying she enjoyed the "toothsome" feel of the chips. She felt the salsa was a little too warm for her taste, but the proceeded to eat far more than her fair share!! The red salsa was da bomb!
Service was prompt and attentive, but not hovering. My solicitation for menu recommendations was well recrived and great suggestions were made. Nice folks!
Ambiance was nice, if typical, Tex-Mex decor. Enjoyed the wall paintings, hanging pictures, and along with mexican style artifacts.
Would I return? Perhaps, but we do want to first try some of the other high review-marks eateries first. That said, our meal at Angelica's...
Read moreOnly one word can describe this place, DISGUSTING!!! My Uncle came to town and wanted some Mexican food. We had just recently moved to the area. With this being right off the highway, and I not knowing of any other place, we decided to try it. It was hot, dingy, gross, and just appeared bad. Me being a native New Mexican I'm a giant fan of Mexican food, it's what I grew up on ( slaughter the goats and chickens right there in the back yard and begin to cook, etc.). While I was skeptical of the place, they all said "looks can be deceiving" so in we went. I will NEVER go back!!! Firstly, the selection is small. And some of the items I have never even heard of! Secondly, in middle of our meal ROACHES were climbing the walls!! Not joking here!! I love food and take it quite seriously. The inside of the place looks just as bad as the outside. I will say that the chips and salsa are quite delicious. But who wants to return after seeing the roaches!? Not this young lady! That's for sure. I hope this review helps some make up their mind on weather or not to eat there. I highly suggest seeking out other places. There's a wonderful place in Pleasanton called Mi Tortilla (or Me Tortilla) I can't remember which one). And it is ABSOLUTELY, 100%, without a doubt DELICIOUS!!!! Bleasings, Love, and Light to...
Read moreI’ve been going to Angelica’s for the past 5–6 years, regularly purchasing between 16 to 32 plates at a time to feed my oil & gas customers in South Texas. The lady who usually helps me is always kind and helpful, and I’ve always appreciated the service—until today.
I called in my usual order an hour ahead, requesting mixed beef and chicken fajitas with extra sausage—something my customers really enjoy. It is Good Friday, and I wanted to give them a special meal. But when I arrived in Floresville, I received a call saying the owner refused to fill my order because it was “too much.”
If she didn’t want to accept the order, she could have let me know at the time I placed it—not after I had driven all that way. I had to scramble to find another local Mexican restaurant willing to help so my customers could eat on time.
This was deeply disappointing, especially on a meaningful day like Good Friday. I’ve been a loyal customer for years, but after the way I was treated today, I won’t be returning. I rarely write reviews, but this experience really hurt, and I felt it needed...
