Nothing really special about this place. Made a reservation and they couldn't seat us on time. I approached the hostess stand ~10 minutes prior to let them know that I'm the first of my party and that they'll be here shortly.. They didn't ask the name, just bluntly stated to come back when I have everyone.. We come back and they're struggling to seat a large party and don't have availability for us. We get stuck sitting outside, by ourselves which was kind of nice in its own way, but our table wasn't visited frequently as a resul. We even had to find the server at one point. It was raining and the seemingly busy, yet glued to her phone, hostess walked us out the front of the restaurant, through the rain, to our table instead of through the restaurant, despite being a visibly clear path.. Not the end of the world for most, but we had two elders with us, one that was visibly struggling with walking.. But sure, let's take everyone through the rain and risk slipping.. Our server was an absolute delightful ball of energy and super charismatic and charming! Answered all of our questions and took great care of us for the most part. Drinks ran low multiple times, and we were told she was grabbing bread 3x times before she finally brought some out after our dinner was served.. A bit backwards.. I wish I could say more about the atmosphere, but the outside at night was rather dull. Let alone the staff was seemingly in a hurry to go home, so they closed most of the outside walls/windows which caused a staleness of airflow and just felt rather uncomfortable after being "Too busy" for our reservation. We had an issue with one of the dishes our server recommended, that's apparently going to be featured on their up and coming tv show. While there was nothing wrong with it, it was simply underwhelming. Specially for the prices. Thankfully our server was super kind and polite and took care of it for us! Yet someone approached our table.. We have no idea who... He didn't introduce him self, nor even greet us. Just a dry "I heard you didn't like your dish?" We commented and he merely walked away... Super awkward. Was that a manager? Chef? Patron? Homeless person?. We just know he was bald, wearing a touristy style shirt and seemed to be approaching more tables inside with dread. Guess we weren't the only ones having a bad experience.
As far as my meal, the side salad was as great as one can be. The baked potato was merely that. The grilled salmon with jumbo lump crab and tropical aioli sauce was well.... Decent. Sauce was very flavorful, complimenting and well paired. Crab portion seemed rather light for a $38 dish. -$6 potato, and -$6 for side salad, per menu, and essentially paid $26 for a mere slice of good grilled salmon, small bit of good crab, and a good sauce.
The only reason I'm not giving this a 1 star is due to the absolutely charming server. Even though she was a bit behind on drinks/bread, you could tell she's really passionate about what she does and it's hard to even comment on her faults if I'm being honest. Truly was a caring delight!
Yet, for a $400 outing, we would've been much happier at a mere Flanigans for half the price. I cannot recommend this place for a multude of reasons which is truly saddening. I really hope management can heed this review and turn this place around. There's so...
Read moreTo start with, I am the type of person who recognizes and appreciates quality service. That said, I can confidently say that where I once appreciated Bimini Twist, those days are over.
Due to management's obnoxious behavior, this past visit was a quick and decisive 180 in everything Bimini Twist once was. Yes, we were welcomed by the front house manager (the same guy who's been there for years), but as soon as we were shown to our booth, we noticed ants....LOTS OF ANTS! Pointing this out to a member of the waitstaff, she immediately alerted the manager who pointed out that those were just "sugar ants" taking advantage of some spilled sugar which wasn't fully cleaned up.
Three things.... a). There is no such animal called a "sugar ant". There are invasive species of ants plaguing South Florida which build HUGE COLONIES in and around homes and establishments which, once established, are a pain to get get rid of.
b). The booth and the area around the booth looked very clean with no sticky sugary residue anywhere. Looks like someone's got an ant problem! Better break open that piggy bank because that's going to be a very expensive fix!
c). Do restaurants want to risk the chance of people being covered by those nasty things? Disgusting!
Back to management.... After his weak response to the ant situation (with no apology), we were shown to another booth which wasn't cleaned very well topped with visibly dirty bread plates. Pointing this out to the same manager, his response was "these aren't dirty" while he rubbed away the dirt with his thumb (his thumb!). How about getting new plates and offering an apology? Expressing our disappointment, his attitude-laden response was, "Well, we've been here for 23 years!"
With that, our relationship with Bimini Twist ended. We ended up at another restaurant which, although being a little more expensive, helped make my wife's birthday special. Their top-notch staff and service rescued the day. I guess we can actually thank Bimini Twist as we never would have found our new go-to spot...
Read moreBimini Twist is a fantastic surf and turf restaurant that offers a wide range of delectable seafood and meat dishes. I had the pleasure of dining there recently and was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food and the outstanding service provided by our server, Carly.
From the moment we walked in, Carly greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel welcome. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and she took the time to explain each dish in detail, which helped us make informed decisions. She was patient with us as we deliberated on what to order and provided helpful recommendations based on our preferences.
We started with the crab cakes and shrimp cocktail, both of which were absolutely delicious. The crab cakes were perfectly cooked, and the shrimp cocktail was fresh and succulent. For our main course, my partner ordered the filet mignon, which was cooked to perfection and served with a flavorful sauce. I opted for the lobster tail, which was cooked to perfection and served with a side of butter sauce.
Throughout the meal, Carly was attentive to our needs, ensuring that our drinks were refilled promptly, and checking in to make sure that we were enjoying our meal. She was friendly and engaging, striking the perfect balance between being professional and personable.
The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was also fantastic, with a cozy and welcoming ambiance that was perfect for a romantic dinner. The decor was stylish and modern, with a touch of tropical flair that added to the overall ambiance.
In summary, my experience at Bimini Twist was truly exceptional, thanks in large part to the amazing service provided by our server, Carly. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was inviting, and Carly's attention to detail and excellent customer service truly made the dining experience one to remember. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic surf and turf...
