Just had dinner tonight. Severely disappointing.
We have a condo timeshare in PCB and had a good experience before, so decided to come here again expecting a great dinner on our vacation.
They weren't too busy, but there was a little bit of a wait for food. No problem... we didn't mind waiting. Eventually the food got dropped off. My food: grilled shrimp, onion rings, cheese grits, hush puppies. Everything was cold except the shrimp. My wife's grilled bay scallops were cold. Our son had the red fish with onion rings and cheese grits. His sides were cold too but he never cares. Waitress eventually comes over. She seems uncaring but offers to replace it. When she comes back, the scallops were tough, half of the onion rings were cold, and the cheese grits weren't much hotter than the first ones. we eat anyway.
At the end, the waitress finally comes back and we tell her it isn't any better than the first try. She offers to have the owner come by. At the same time, my wife asks for a refill on her unsweet tea.
Waitress forgets about the refill, but the "owner" comes by. Completely unapologetic, insists that everything is "made fresh to order" when we called them out on reheating the scallops. If everything is made fresh to order, then how are onion rings cold two times? She only offers to replace my wife's meal again. We decline. The owner gets my wife a refill on her drink, only for it to be sweet tea. My wife walks up to her, and gets sweet tea a second time. We're just done by now.
It didn't quite feel like an $80 meal, but there we were. No discount, no sincere apology, no "I hope you give us another try". Nothing. If that was indeed the owner, the pure apathy she showed was surprising.
Again, I never asked for a discount. I would have gladly paid full price and left a generous tip for a decent meal and...
Read moreWe were invited by a friend end whom used to be a local for their birthday dinner. We ordered 2 appetizers gator bites and firecracker shrimp. The shrimp were very bland and somewhat cold and well done. I ate it and didn't complain. After the apps were eaten the rest of the table also mentioned they felt there might be a bit of spice or kick for a shrimp called firecracker.
When entree arrived my bay scallops were bland luke warm/cold dry and shrimp the same bland and lukewarm and appeared to be overcooked. Baked potato was under cooked and green beans were actually super Overly seasoned. I tried to speak to my husband quietly not to allow the person who invited us to not feel offended. I asked the waitress for some old bay or something I could use to doctor it up and she didn't wait for me To finish my request for knife and butter before she quickly ran off to get the old bay then came by and dropped on the table and left. I waited about 10 more Minutes to ask the plate be returned but she never returned until we were done. Again I was not trying to upset the person who invited us and yes I could have excuses myself To go find a manager
I just sucked it up as a lesson learned and will not return to this place at all. How the green beans were so overly spiced and the seafood so bland I can't even begin to understand. The restaurant was not busy when we ordered. I feel bad for not making the complaint but at the same time didn't want to ruin our companies bday dinner. So I will Just rant here and hope the owners check their reviews as we Do for our business and take this as consructive criticism and speak to their cooks to taste food before sending it out. I have seen a few similar reviews so maybe...
Read moreWe went to Boon Docks for the first time from a recommendation and let me tell you! Wow! From the moment you walk in on the covered porch, through the gift shop, down the hallway and to the dining room, it is a very cool vibe! They say us at a table with a view of the bay. We watched the pelicans and other birds flying around! Our waitress, Jamie was fantastic! We took her recommendation of the grouper! I got mine breaded and fried. The bread was light and thin with just enough to be perfect for me! My wife got her grouper grilled with lemon and herb seasoning. It was so juicy and soft it would almost melt off of your fork. Our sides were green beans, cream corn, onion rings and baked potato. All delicious! But wait, there's more! For desert we got their homemade peanut butter pie topped with chocolate chips! It ought to be against the law for something to taste that good! Light and fluffy and absolutely delicious! I am calling them tomorrow to see if I can buy a few slices for the rest of our week! We met the lady that made it and she was super sweet. I told her that I could unalive myself on that pie and just eat it till I passed on! And, I would die a happy man! Boon Docks is a short drive away from the madness of front beach road and is tucked into a small cove. We even saw one family that were finished with their meal and when they left, they just walked out to one of the docks, got on their pontoon boat and headed out! We highly recommend you try Boon Docks if you want a cool relaxing atmosphere, delicious food and a pie to die for! 10 out of 10! We...
