Bayside Cafe — Restaurant in Panama City Beach

Absolutely terrible in every way possible!

We purchased three meals, two of which were supposed to be the same—a simple mushroom Swiss burger with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and bacon (which we paid extra for). However, both burgers arrived looking like someone just threw the patties and buns together without care. They were missing the lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and bacon we paid extra for. The tiny bit of cheese was sloppily melted on one side, and the canned mushrooms were cold and piled unevenly on one side of the burger.

The third meal was a hot dog and fries kids’ meal for our one-year-old son. Unfortunately, it was such a disaster that even he wouldn’t eat it.

I don’t understand how this place has good reviews when they can’t even make a simple burger correctly—not just one, but two identical orders, both prepared wrong in exactly the same way. Everything we paid for was missing, and the food quality was awful. We were starving, so we went ahead and ate the burgers, only to deeply regret it. About an hour later, we felt sick to our stomachs.

To make matters worse, we were already 30 minutes away from the restaurant when we realized how bad the food was, so returning to get a refund would have meant another hour of driving.

Overall, this was the absolute worst takeout experiences...

Great location. Small, older building that has been nicely updated to a restaurant that services breakfast, light lunch, and desserts, including freshly baked items and ice cream. The owner bakes or makes all of the dessert items. She was also preparing our breakfast. We chose to get breakfast to go since there was only seating outside, and it was too warm for me. The owner carefully packed up our sausage gravy separately from our biscuits and fried potatoes. It was delicious and still warm 15 minutes later at my sister's house. There was so much gravy that we had it again the next day for breakfast, too! The owner gave us two chocolate chip cookies for free just because she didn't have seating. It's definitely a great place to eat, and I finally found someone who makes sausage gravy better than I do. I can't wait to visit my sister again and try another item...

DO NOT SIT OUTSIDE. BUGS ARE EVERYWHERE AND THEY DONT GIVE YOU LIDS FOR YOUR DRINKS.Even tho they had three shop fans, they didn't help. We even moved one right next to us, the only thing it did was make our overcooked food cold. Plus you seem to be forgotten about when you sit outside, service is horrible to add. Took 15 minutes just to get drinks then another 10 to get the drinks. Then another 15 minutes for them to get our order. After waiting another 30 minutes. They bring you out the smallest portions of food that is over cooked on a paper plate with flimsy cutlery you can hardly use. Then they will charge you outrageous prices that don't match the service nor the quality of food or dinnerware. I won't be back, I will not recommend this to anyone. Only good thing is the view.. sorta. Bathrooms are clean tho, yet...
