As chicken shacks go, this is among my favorites. Unfortunately there are fewer and fewer of these outlets around. I actually prefer Church's Chicken to that of KFC. I like the traditional crunchy crust and appreciate that I can get a box of wings and thighs at any time, not just when they're on special as they do at KFC. Prices seem cheaper too.
The service was relatively quick. It was busy when I arrived and freshly fried chicken had come up. They quickly filled the waiting backlog of orders and then got to me. My order of legs and thighs was filled quite promptly and I must say that I enjoyed the fact that everything was piping hot. I did not order any sides because I had some leftovers at home that were perfect for a fried chicken meal.
Everything was good and the place seems well kept, but the person assigned to fryer duty decided to wander around a bit, at the counter after finishing one batch starting another. She was looking sloppy with flour all over her black slacks and her polo, which is likely unavoidable given what she does, but you either stay in back, or keep clean aprons or chef jackets around. She was not presentable. Customers don't want to see that and it reflects poorly on the establishment.
It's clear that they are supported by the surrounding neighborhoods. A lot of the customers seemed to know each other and it was obvious that many are regulars given their rapport with the staff. That was particularly nice to witness... I was also impressed by the way they took care of an order that was filled incorrectly... The issue was handled professionally and without any fuss. The order was confirmed with the customer and then corrected to the satisfaction of the customer,
This outlet is conveniently located just a couple blocks west of the I-95 exit onto Sunrise. There is ample parking and drive through service is available.
I would definitely recommend this location. It's a great place to go when you are in the mood for good old fashioned fried chicken, but don't want the hassle of making it yourself. The crust has a more traditional crunch and the chicken is tender and juicy. Whereas the KFC Seasoning is loaded with salt, Church's is more subtle and more like homemade. It's a coin toss really, but as I said, if given the choice, KFC would...
Read moreThis is the worst place in Broward county to ever ever eat. Besides the amount of homeless people standing at the drive thru order speaker begging for money....besides the disgusting dining area....besides the German Cockroaches in the dining area...besides the extremely rude and combative service you encounter either with the drive thru employee or the inside counter employees...besides watching the manager text and care less about the line building...besides the fights the counter employee is trying to start with the customer...besides the filthy counters, floors, walls...besides they are ALWAYS out of the same foods...the MAIN reason to avoid this place are the major food preparation violations I viewed. Refrigeration was left open...cross contamination occurring with raw food vs prepared food, health guidelines with employees hair/hands, garbage stored and scattered throughout the restaurant preparation area and the prepared food...this place is a nightmare...and zero regard for anything by anyone on shift tonight.
People thinking about ordering anyways and brushing off my review--you know you can get sick from a dirty restaurant--have you ever had food poisoning? Did my mention of the visible roaches not make you change your mind? Why on Earth would you go here and then be battled by super angry employees???
Take 10 more mins and drive to Popeyes further East on Broward.
I know this Church's is in a bad challenging lower income area, but so what. Every person who walks or drive thru this place deserves respect from the employees, and SAFE food preparation.
Whomever owns this franchise should be ashamed of themselves, and yes, I am reporting you...
Read moreMy family and I decided to eat at Church's Chicken Today. However, it was the worst experience ever. First when we pulled up to the intercom. No one answered when we tried to place our order. We thought the intercom was broken, and so we pulled up. The next the car came and place their order, finally, someone answered through the intercom. Either that intercom got a miracle or the workers were being rude and did not want to answer.
Next We placed our order at the window which was a 20 piece Chicken with a half of dozen of biscuits, And a large spicy rice. We were told to pull to the side until our order was ready, so we waited, thinking it would be a 10 to 15 minute wait. However, we waited a whole hour. No one told us that our order was ready, they placed our meal on the counter and assumed we would come inside the restaurant to get it.
My Husband went on the inside of the restaurant to check on our order, He informed the employees that no one told us that our order was ready. My Husband brought our order back to the Vehicle, we looked inside and saw the 20 piece chicken but no biscuits or spicy rice. But only french fries, something we never ordered, so I am guessing it could have been someone else order.
So he took the order back to tell the employees about the missing items. One worker said sorry about the long wait and only offered a free lemonade as an apology for the long wait, instead of more chicken or an additional side dish. We still had to wait a long time for the two missing items. I am thinking to myself, Can this service get any worse? Wow Isn't Churches great
We did all that waiting for...
