Courtney’s Continental Cuisine is a great restaurant with an eclectic menu that is sure to have something to please everyone in your party. We would actually like to keep it a secret, but they really have earned this review. From the host to the owner and chef Dale, you will feel welcome at Courtney’s. Don’t let the storefront exterior fool you, Courtney’s delivers a wonder dining experience. It is casual but very professional, which is a difficult balance to achieve.
Food, wine, and cocktails….not in that order.
Cocktails- martinis, old fashioned, or mixed drinks- we enjoyed every different libation that Liz and Holly prepared for us. Great service if you enjoy visiting or eating at the bar. They are attentive without being intrusive, friendly and very welcoming. Liz was there most nights when we visited and we feel like we made a wonderful friend. We enjoyed the bar for before dinner aperitifs, dining, and after dinner drinks. The Espresso Martinis were standouts.
Food- wow! Wonderful appetizers, entrees, and, honestly, I don’t know about the desserts. We were always too well fed to enjoy one, but regular customers rave about them. The staff were all terrific. We really enjoyed Danny taking care of our experience in the dining room. He immediately seems like a friend or your younger brother. Everyone was so very nice and accommodating. I love all types of food, and I have had the privilege to eat in many fine dining restaurants around the world. I have visited many, many fine steakhouses. I would put Courtney’s cuts up against any of them. It is the flavors and the sauces that set Courtney’s preparations apart from so many other restaurants. Try their Filets, Veal, or Chicken dishes and you will walk away a believer! They have the best duck dish I have ever eaten! Fantastic Filets and other cuts. We had pasta dishes, apps, salads, and most of the items on the menu. There is not a dish we have tried there (bringing multiple guests along) that we would not hesitate to recommend!
Wine- a succinct but very fine wine list at extremely reasonable prices. Ask the team, they will point you towards the right bottles for your party!
The Winner?
The Black and Blue Porkchop! This dish deserves it’s own review… I have never been a big fan of pork chops. Too often they are just unexciting if not tending towards the dry and chewy side of the spectrum. Courtney’s Black and Blue Pork Chop is not only the tastiest pork dish I have ever had; it is one of the top three entrees I have had anywhere! First of all it moist and tender. (Trust the chef’s recommendation on the temperature, please!). It is so flavorful that I could not stop ordering it (literally 8’out of 12 visits we made over the last 4 weeks). It is like an addictive drug it is so tasty! I skipped the starch and would get the vegetable of the day and they were always perfectly cooked like broccoli, green beans, etc. The standout for me was their asparagus. A vegetable I don’t seek out at most restaurants because I am too often disappointed with the result. Courtney’s asparagus was as fine as I have had anywhere. Slightly crisp, but super tender and absolutely delicious.
We are leaving town tomorrow after a month long visit, and I will miss this restaurant immensely. Read the reviews and believe them. We did, and found one of our favorite restaurants of all time, anywhere!
Courtney’s Continental Restaurant cuisine is worthy of a visit whether you are local from Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Estero, Naples, or Vermont! Chef Dale and his crew do an amazing job. We highly, highly recommend Courtney’s Continental Cuisine. Don’t miss out, visit Courtney’s no matter where you are, they will not...
Read moreI have to admit that I wouldn't have picked this place on my own. I mean, first of all it was in a mall! How could it possibly be good??!!! Well, I'm glad I was seeing and glad I got schooled!!! We actually came here twice, second time was of my choosing 😬 So the first time we came we had the artichokes rachel which was unique and interesting, and yes it was really good too! Oh btw, they do serve fresh bread with this DELICIOUS pesto that I dare you to not try!!! My entree was the chicken tuscany- I loved it!!! Their second are huge and I ate it again for a very filling lunch the next day. They somehow managed to make sure the chicken wasn't dry and tough which is what I fear with dishes that have chicken breast! Hubby got the shrimp St Maarten which , granted was really good too, but I just loved mine so much more!!! Dessert was the brownie a la mode which just can't be anything but good!!! The second time we came we stuffed our faces with that delicious bread and pesto obviously! We decided to get two appetizers and share one entree. We got the crab cakes and the Thai peanut shrimp. Loved the way the shrimp had been grilled!!! The peanut sauce was a good touch though I could've eaten them without it coz they were cooked so well! The crab cakes were indeed lump crabcakes and were really good!!! So I had ordered the veal oscar but they brought out the veal Courtney instead!! The server was insistent that I ordered it which was impossible because it has prosciutto in it which I don't eat! Anyway he did eventually bring out the veal oscar which came with rice because they were out of the baked potato I wanted. Now this was a DELICIOUS dish!! The lump crab was so flavorful!!! Usually it's just plopped onto a dish without seasoning but man, this was just too good!!! For dessert I wanted the key lime pie to go but wish I had known that it wasn't your typical key lime pie!!! It was more like a cheesecake, and I wasn't that crazy about it! If you want really good cheesecake then you can get it at Doc Fords!!!
Btw Courtney's is the owners son and he also waits at tables there so you might get...
Read moreLike many gems in Fort Meyers this is located in the otherwise unspectacular location of a strip mall. If you’re not paying attention you will drive right by it and not give it a thought. I did for years. If I had not gone into a next door business and noticed an employee updating an outdoor chalk board and been thirsty, I probably would still be driving past on my way to Publix. Courtney’s is a very good and well known to regulars, small and charming restaurant. It is not hip or trendy, more traditional, but not dated either. The menu is “courageous” and extensive for the size. I finally had dinner with a choice of seating at a small comfy bar, high top or traditional seating. The triple tail fish special was excellent, bread and olive oil tapenade dip very good. Service with a very light crowd on a weekday was excellent. I don’t know the owner chef, but it feels like a family operation. I urge you to support this and other hurricane Ian affected small businesses. Courtney’s is located in an area that was devastated and knocked down. Help them get back up! (FYI. I’m inclined to not publish anything critical for any businesses affected by Ian for one year. Some are not back up to former games just yet. But Courtney’s is well...
