Executive summary: Its a good pizza, Philly Cheesesteak is pretty decent but not a true Philly, the wings weren't good at all. I will certainly go back and try some of the other options as well. Long: Pizza was good, not great. It has a nice thin, crispy and chewy crust. The sauce is on the sweeter side. And the cheese was good. I like the crust a bit less chewy, but it was a good pizza. The Cheesesteak is not a Philly. The meat was good, thick and tender; not chewy. It had onions, mushrooms and peppers. The cheese I think is mozzarella or a blend, not a cheddar or other yellow cheese; so not a Philly. A traditional Philly is just meat, onions, and yellow cheese sauce or cheese whiz; some places also include mushrooms and peppers. The roll was baked and gave a nice crunch, yet soft texture. I personally like other toppings on a cheesesteak as well and wish someone would offer toppings like lettuce, tomato, mayo, and hots on their cheesesteaks here in FL. It was one of the better ones I have found in FL. The wings is where it really went bad. They are previously frozen and then baked. The problem with this is that when they are frozen the fat and skin absorb the water and swells to become slimy. The fix is to soak them in a salt bath for up to 12 hrs before cooking them, this will pull the water back out and allow for a crispy skin and a delicious wing. If you add other seasonings it will "soak" into the wing and add another layer to them. The other option is to fry them for an extra amount of time to cook the water out, but you risk drying them out. You cant bake the water out, it is trapped by the skin. Personally I think wings should be fried. The wing sauce is very thin. So to eat them I had to remove the skin and wipe off the fat, which meant all the sauce was gone. They were cooked thoroughly. But I couldnt get over the skin and fat as it was. I ended up throwing half of them away, it just wasnt worth the effort. The blue cheese was good, but way too much of it; not a bad thing but you could provide half and I would have had more than enough and you would...
Read moreHey Friends, trying another pizza joint...Formaggio's Pizza. You think authentic New York Pizza, right? The name is Italian and means cheese. Come on... Nope, it was far from a New York style pizza. The Mrs. and I ordered 8 wings dressed in garlic BBQ, garlic knots and a Buffalo Chicken Pizza. The wings weren't anything special. Frozen, thawed wings drenched, I mean drenched in some kind of sauce...I don't know what... It looked like syrup truly. The garlic knots were uncooked and no crispy. They were true dough but the amount of butter/oil was 2x's the amount of garlic. So, last but not least, the pie. The pie was cooked evenly, the dough wasn't bad. Chewy but had no flavor. The buffalo sauce was from a can, no spice. Burn my mouth please with real buffalo sauce! There was no heat...There was no blue cheese, typical mozzarella. The chicken... This was the line. Prepackaged frozen but thawed chicken pieces. They were white, maybe microwaved and added the pizza. Come on, use breaded fresh chicken pieces..spice up the blandness. We paid close to $50, I'm disappointed. I wouldn't recommend the place because I want value for what I'm paying for and decent food. Just not my cup of tea, I know NY Pizza being a former New Englander. You decide. Remember Friends, Enjoy what you eat! Peace!
I did have the leftovers today. My feelings have changed a little. The garlic knots or zeppoles were better today then yesterday. We cooked them longer. They had a good crunch and the cooked garlic brought the flavor to a different level. No sauce dripping needed. The wings were better too. Cooked a lil longer to caramelize the sauce. The pizza was definitely better. The crust had more crunch. The sauce soaked into the dough. Still not enough heat. Maybe just ask for a longer cook on all three.
I wish the business the best. Maybe, it's your cup of tea. Remember Friends, enjoy what...
Read moreVery disappointing experience. We tried to order on April 13th at 1:23PM (so the owner can verify the caller ID) as usual, after a day in the range. A young male started taking my order. I ordered two pepperoni extra large pizzas, and this is when the employee started to have a bad attitude. I asked him if he could put oregano before baking the pizzas, as I always ask. Then he said no. Then I asked for 16 garlic parmesan wings, which is when he told me they don’t do garlic parmesan. I asked him to make my wings medium, and if it was possible to put some of the garlic they put on the crust outside of the calzones, and hell broke loose with this kid. He replied that he was not allowed to do anything out of the menu, and if he lost his job I wasn’t going to pay him what he makes per hour. Then abruptly, he put me on hold, without a warning. I don’t know if it’s under new management, because it’s been like two months since I’ve been there. I hope the pizza retained its quality, because the attitude of the person taking my order made me take the business elsewhere, so...
