During my recent sojourn to Hidalgos, I embarked on a culinary adventure that led me to the captivating "Huevos a la Mexicana." A dish that encapsulates the very essence of Mexican cuisine, the Huevos a la Mexicana showcased a symphony of flavors – perfectly scrambled eggs adorned with vibrant tomatoes, onions, and a hint of jalapeño, a medley that danced harmoniously on the palate.
However, the journey of an exceptional dining experience doesn't culminate with the cuisine alone. Our visit was graced by the impeccable service of our waitress, Sofia. Her warm demeanor and extensive menu knowledge transformed our meal into an experience that was both delightful and memorable. Sofia's attention to detail and genuine enthusiasm added an extra layer of magic, ensuring that our time at Hidalgos was nothing short of extraordinary.

Read moreThe first time I dined in, service was great & food was great. I decided to come back with family and the service wasn’t as good. Unfortunately, the server had a preference for the table ordering plenty of drinks and food, forgot we were also paying customers. We ordered chips with pico de gallo and guacamole that alone was around $12, Drinks were about $3 each, my husband ordered the 3 chicken quesadillas, rice and beans combo and paid $11. My mother ordered the Menudo soup with tortillas and 3 tacos paid $14. I ordered 4 cheese quesadillas (mind you same size, less ingredients) and paid $16! For QUESADILLAS. This place charged me $5 extra for my 4th quesadilla? Everyone at my table ate MORE and paid LESS??
Once I brought up the issue to my server, letting her know “my husband literally ordered the same food that I did and paid way less for his meal” she didn’t even bother to be more sympathetic? Or try to help us understand or fix the obvious issue.
Being the small corner restaurant here in homestead, it’s not a good look for a restaurant to RIP OFF their customers. I don’t mind paying for GOOD food but I do not like being RIPPED OFF... $5 extra for a fourth quesadilla......
Read moreAfter looking for a good Mexican place to eat here in Homestead, I came across this place. Initially, when we first got there, the location of the restaurant was already shady and wasn’t in the best area. However, we decided to eat here anyway. We had an Horchata and complementary chips and salsa. The Horchata was delicious and the chips and salsa were very fresh, but a small proportion. We had high hopes for this place at this point. Once we got our food, we were very disappointed. It took a while for us to get our food and it was slow. The food, sadly to say, was not very good. I ordered las enchiladas rojas con pollo. They were not good at all. The plate entirely was missing something. The flavor just wasn’t there. When I opened the small tortilla, it had ONE strip of chicken inside all 3 enchiladas. The rice was bland the beans were missing salt. My friend ordered a chorizo and steak quesadilla. The steak quesadilla also had no flavor and barely had any steak inside. He said the chorizo was ok. Our server was sweet and we still left a good tip. The only positives about this place were the server, Horchata, and the chips. Everything else was a let down and I will not come back...
