Absolutely unmatched. This little hidden stand shows very little to the busy intersection. Holiday's needs a massive, neon lit, blinking sign and a live band with a dancing wind sock outside to match what You will find it on the property. The staff is friendly and open and very knowledgeable. That's important because you will have a fascinated question about exactly what magic fruit or unfamiliar tin you are holding. I have happily eaten my way through the Mediterranean, South America, and all through Europe. I am a "brave" eater, chewing first and then asking questions. This little store has shiny, clean, well lit, crazy organized, floor to ceiling shelves holding food magic from EVERYWHERE. The produce section, also super clean bins and glass doored, coolers stuffed with everything from growing fresh thyme straight through daikon radishes. Dragonfruit and dozens of bins with every edible root and fruit made.
Go.To.Holidays. Ask for tastes of sweet and earthy fetas and brined olives. Ask where grains are and if they carry Fila dough or baby octopus. They do. My mission has been to find something I have not ever tasted once a week, I ask about how to prepare it and give it a shot. As a foodie, it is the ultimate MUST SEE treasure. BTW, go early if you want the fresh bread UPDATE : I have been at least once a week since finding it. The staff smiles at me still, eager to here about last weeks experience and curious to see what's next. (I have been at it for months. I plan on getting past the olive oil...
Read moreGiving a 3 because normally would have given a 5. It's my go-to place for produce. Well, last visit about a wk ago on Dec 23rd, I ordered a sandwich for the 1st time. BLT minus the L on 6" sub roll. Guy asked if I wanted it pressed or cold. I told him I don't like hot tomatoes so cold. Here is my mistake, I didn't ask any more questions. I just assumed he wouldn't hot press my sub roll like they do with their Cubans. My bacon would be hot and my tomatoes would be cold. Pic show what I received. I'm not happy I had to pay $8.99 for this terrible sandwich. Cold bacon with cold fat, all slices stuck together, and 2 of the thinnest slices of tomato I've ever seen on a sub. I spent $40 that day, including the sandwich. I did feel like they heavily marked up their produce because of the holidays. Normally, I would have paid $2.99 or $3.99 lb for asparagus, and they had it at $5.99 lb. The white mushrooms were $4.99lb and normally are not that high. Even bags of herbs that used to be $1 were $2.49 ea last week. Not, sure if I'll return. Nothing special there anymore when I can go to Publix and get produce and big hugh 12 "subs for the same...
Read moreTwo words. Uh! Mazing! Yes, I know amazing is one word but this place is a diamond in the rough.
I bought enough chicken breasts to last a month for what would have cost me 5 times that in the store. And I paid $69 for 40 pounds of huge double chicken breasts.
We bought everything from capers, to fresh made chocolate covered baklava, to chocolate covered apricots, to farm fresh eggs, and so much more.
We would have spent more had we not gotten there so close to closing time.
Growing organic section with spices, oils, teas. Unique coffees. Huuuuuuge spice collection with so many hard to find or never seen before spices.
Supporting local produce as much as they can.
George is the owner (I think). Starter with a small portion of the store. Now he has the whole building and is building a second level.
He also said he can order pretty much anything you need or want. I only had time to take pics of 1 of 7 or so isles. We are going back when we can.
Open 6 days a week. Closed Sundays. Oh, and they take all cards and EBT. Super awesome, healthy food which is accessible...
