I experienced a weird encounter today at Lox Bagel Boca while picking up an order. I arrived around 10:45-10:50 am and the restaurant was busy, plenty of people were dining in with family and friends. I approached the young lady at the counter that’s in charge of packing the food for to-go orders. As I said “Hello I’m picking up an order” She looked at me as if I was aggravating her. I show her the name of the order and she quickly brushes me off by saying “That’s not done” in a dismissive manner. I noticed a few orders on the to-go rack that’s behind the counter that’s been packed and ready to go. While waiting about 10-12 people came in to grab their orders that they placed at the front of the restaurant and 2 UberEats/Doordashers came in to get orders. The young lady was very nice to every single person that came in after me. After 20 minutes of standing there waiting patiently, I asked again about the order I was picking up. This time she said in an exasperated tone she said: “I TOLD YOU ALREADY IT NOT DONE!” I was startled at her response and confused, because what did I do to you? Her mood changed instantly when I asked about something. I was embarrassed and my feelings were hurt. A few seconds later she asked for the name of the order and I just showed her my phone instead of talking. The whole time my order was already on the to-go rack before I came into the restaurant. Her words were “Oh it’s here.” I proceeded to say “I knew the order was done” and took the bag from her. My feelings are hurt. I cried when I got into my vehicle. I told my father and brother about the situation and we called to restaurant to speak with the manager. I explained to him what transpired and he went on to say “Oh the workers are extremely tired, busy and just be patient with them.” Like really? I just told you how this woman treated everyone else and how I was treated. Seems like the manager is with the same B.S. as her. I never been someone that complains about the workers job or delay in time because I know how much it can be, I’m very forbearing. I appreciate their time and effort. I have worked in many jobs and I never showed any signs of being rude, scornful, or prejudiced. Not only just my place of employment but anywhere. Did I forget to mention that I’m a black woman? YES! I was in a restaurant where Jewish and white people dine in and work. I never experienced something like this before. It saddens me that situations like this are still occurring and we’re about to go into a new year. I’ll patronize any other restaurant that doesn’t discriminate, and treat everyone equally and respectfully.
Lastly, I forgot to mention that two other black women came into Lox Bagel Boca about 5 minutes later when I arrived. The ladies stood there for about 3 minutes before leaving. We’re the women greeted? Nope. Remember I said EVERY other person was spoken to, but not us....
Read moreBizarre in a great way! SERVICE Amazing! Waitress came over many times to ask if we needed anything. Very on top of things. Great attitude!! FOOD great quality food, good portions, very fresh (not pkgd stuff reheated) hand cut real restaurant food! FACILITIES clean washrooms, spacious, everything clearly marked (washing stations washrooms etc) ATMOSPHERE restaurant has a happy look (i guess because of the signage style and staff attitude) Its a very open space (can see in kitchen, good space in eating area) no loud music needed for ambiance design full of personality feel good attractive look. Many kosher restaurants play background music because they think that’s going to give happening atmosphere but really it just makes everything loud. This place had a genius design the restaurant to make it happy and fun and just left the music off so people can actually hear each other when they’re talking. KITCHEN I like the fact that I can see into the kitchen and see what they’re doing with my food WOW I was incredibly impressed that they were actually benchers with English in them. Not everybody that comes in can read Hebrew and sometimes people come with others who are not religious for both reasons I think it’s nice for there to be an English benching option. Maybe someone who wouldn’t normally bench will bench because they can read the English. PRICES fair prices for portions STAFFING surprisingly well staffed for a kosher restaurant. This allowed for excellent fast and impressive service xxxxxxxxx none of my family is religious and I hate taking them to kosher restaurants because they always complain about the service being slow and food being expensive and not that good. I understand where they’re coming from because I wasn’t always kosher myself and have eaten in non-kosher restaurants. This is the first time that I’ve eaten in a kosher restaurant when I can honestly say I felt like i was in a secular happening restaurant (with, barouch hashem, kosher food!) If I lived in Florida I would frequent this restaurant and not bother going anywhere else. Im...
Read moreDon't waste your time going to this place. It may seem clean and inviting, but the owner/manager is very rude and impatient. Not worth it.
I came with my husband today for a late breakfast and wanted to order a Shakshuka and Israeli Breakfast which comes with some side cheeses. We asked to substitute the cheeses with egg salad and lox cream cheese, and the guy at the register asked the manager. Suddenly, out of the blue and for no reason, the manager started ranting about the "kosher" customers wanting free extras without paying. I only asked if a substitution was possible, if he had told us there's an extra charge, we would consider it, we didnt ask for a handout.
He kept ranting out loud, getting angry at us and screaming that he's tired of serving kosher, and taunted us, saying he's going to stop kosher services because of the headache "we" cause him.
When a lady next to us heard what he said, she asked surprised why, and he kept embarrassing us by saying we wanted extra without paying. Obviously, we left.
Just in case he didnt notice, us "kosher" customers are the base customers of his business, and without us, he wouldn't be in business as he over prices, and under serves.
Overall, a very lousy experience, and we didnt even get a chance to eat.
Slow service, Rude manager, a borderline anti-semite which is tired of serving "kosher customers" (his words) High prices
I wish I had read more reviews, for every 3 positive there's a bad one
Brothers and sisters of Israel, fellow kosher customers, stay away from this ungrateful business, there are plenty of places offering a lox bagel that will treat you with respect, regardless of...
