Marsh View Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Fernandina Beach

Just tried to have dinner there. Followed directions on Google maps. Pull in and this entrance is actually gated. (Not denoted on the map by the way.). Fine, it's a resort, I get it. Sign at gate says to go to a different entrance. We arrive at that gate and guard asks where we are headed. We tell her. She asks if we have reservations. I say no, that it didn't say we needed them but I would call. I talked to someone in the restaurant while we are sitting at the gate, with the guard listening to my end of conversation. I asked if they had room for two right now and was told yes they did. The guard said they needed to call her and give her permission to let us in (even though she just heard me talk to someone at the restaurant), so I relay the info and the person on the phone says ok. We wait. No one calls. We wait longer. Finally the guard calls the restaurant and is told that No, they will not let us in!!!! Huh????!!!!! Unfortunately I didn't get the name of the person that answered the phone because I didn't think it was necessary given they said yes they had room AND the guard heard us talk!!!!! Totally makes no sense!!!!! So should be zero stars.... For service and overall experience. Food may or may not taste good. I guess I'll never know. Hope you have better luck. Absolutely fabulous! We ordered 4 items from the menu and each was beyond our expectations. The chili and Reuben sandwich were both especially delicious. Terrific service, great atmosphere. We'll be hitting this place for breakfast tomorrow before we head home....
