I have been going to Metro Diner for nearly 10 years and take everyone here when they visit. The San Jose location knows our order when we walk in, that is how much we have gone there. However, this particular location is quite terrible. It seems to be a change over the past 6 months. I have taken my family here 4 separate times recently and each time was the same. The staff will not help you after you take a seat and they act like they are doing you a favor by even taking your order. They will hover around the drink area and joke with each other while you and the tables around you sit with no drinks. The waitresses have no personality and are just rude / disrespectful when they speak with you. On our last visit I had to get my families food from the prep area (where they place the food when it is ready for the staff to get for you) and deliver it my table. I then had to take back one item that was wrong and have the cook fix it for me. Then I again had to retrieve my food myself from the kitchen. Remember, there are somewhere between 5 and 7 waiters / waitresses standing in the drink area doing nothing but joke around. I know this because I also had to refill our own drinks while the staff stood there and watched. Pretty odd that no one tried to stop me or ask if I needed anything as I refilled my own coffee. When we were ready to go I tried to find our waitress to get the check but it turns out she had already left....that explains our lack of service after I delivered our food to the table. I talked with two other tables and they had the same experience. Explains why this location has no wait while Jacksonville Beach location has an hour wait. Just avoid this location so it doesn't ruin your view of Metro Diner, because it will. Go to Jacksonville Beach and wait, it'll...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI typically don't do 5 stars but this place has very good food, competitively priced and great customer service....I'll explain....We're from Colorado and stopped by to eat but needed to be out by the time the grocery store next door closed otherwise this wouldn't be an issue... We were asked shortly after taking our seat if we were ready and we said we needed a couple to look over the menus. We picked up our server seemed to be having some issues (we all have those days... Not sure if that was the case). After waiting long enough to wonder if we'd make it to the store on time, I told my wife if we hadn't gotten drinks already and had cash, I'd leave a 5 and go. Almost as soon as that came out of my mouth another server came and apologized and stated the manager was going to pay for our meals. I'm not a big fan of that. I like to pay for what I get. The food was great. My wife said "the best meatloaf I've ever had" (she spared a bite and it is delicious). We left a 20 for them to split or pay for most of our meal or whatever. When we were getting ready to leave the manager (Jennifer I believe) came by and gave us certificates for our next visit. Really above and beyond and very friendly. If we get time while we're here, we'll definitely be back and would come back even without the certificates. Great place. Sorry for the long review, but this place is really...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMetro Diner usually representS dependable food staples cooked consistently throughout chain. Not so at this Ponte Vedra location. š Seems this location has their own spin on standard menu selections. Two of us seated for breakfast around 10am. The dining room had an estimated 50% occupancy, clean and well staffed. To start, this location has a very, very limited menu (never experienced this before) ? Coffee and diet soda to drink. Food ordered: 1) biscuits and gravy served with scrambled eggs and hash browns with cheese; 2) 2 eggs fried hard, hashbrowns, sourdough toast with side of grits. Service was ok, warmed coffee once, no offer for soda refill; grabbed jelly packs from other tables, no worries. The food: grits were soupy and over seasoned with butter flavoring; I prefer to add butter to my taste. hasbrowns were plentiful, browned nicely, but-again over seasoned with butter to the point of being non edible(saturated/greasy) (Easy on the butter guys!) eggs fried over hard, not so much-they were translucent/ runny eggs scrambled were more like an omelet. Those are my reasons why I rate this Metro Diner with low marks! Definitely not up to Metro Diner standard with a usually consistent chain classic cooking style. š¤ Stick with original recipes they don't need "butterering...
