Overall, it was our first trip and our last trip as full-time residents and previous long time visitors to the area. Sadly, bad experiences spread faster than good experiences among the many friends and today's internet. It is so hard to find a good Chinese place but we especially will not support this establishment again.
Pros: -Waiter was very nice. -Restaurant was nicely decorated and pretty EMPTY during Snowbird season at 7:00pm.
Cons: -Changes are frowned upon by the Chef. For example, I am allergic to shrimp. I asked if I could trade the shrimp out and replace it with beef or even more of the chicken or pork already listed to come on the plate. I expected the normal "yes with an upcharge" but NOPE, the Chef will only remove the shrimp BUT still charge me the same price for 3 meats when I was only receiving 2. -I felt the food portion was small, especially the rice dish, for the price of $19.95. See picture and make your own decision. -The Soup Dumplings had no taste. Don't waste your $12.95 on these. Instead buy the Bibigo Steamed Dumplings at Costco which are less expensive and have way more flavor. -The dumpling sauce came out and smelled strongly of vinegar. I thought I was about to decorate Easter eggs as it gave me that childhood flashback. -The Sweet & Sour Chicken had just enough sauce to surround the chicken but nothing to mix with the sticky white rice to give the rice flavor.
So another Chinese restaurant disappointment. With a different chef this could potentially be a nice fine dining restaurant that is in the...
Read moreWhat a difference this place is from their old location. Closer to my house, much nicer inside and better staff. The previous location had great food but horrible staff. Although I will say the woman who sat us who I think is the owner scolded me for being 10 minutes late for our reservation. I work in the industry and a 15 min grace period is normal. Plus you donât scold the customer in general. That really annoyed me, otherwise it would be 5 star. Get the Peking duck. It is one of my favorite meals of all time. Make sure to preorder duck ahead of time when you make reservation. Otherwise I donât think you can get it. Itâs well worth it! Great spot but owner needs to lose attitude which is mentioned in other reviews.
Update: went back alone this time. Had a lovely little chat with the owner. She seemed to remember me. Duck was awesome as usual. Waiter was horrible. Place wasnât busy and there were two of them on so he wasnât busy yet he acted like he had 40 tables. Everything was great except for him this time.
Back again. Same two miserable waiters. There were only two other tables in the whole place. Our waiter (who only had our table) still sucked. I will leave the 4 stars just bc of the duck. Every other aspect of the place...
Read moreI do not like to leave negative reviews but feel in this case I have to let other would-be diners know about what we recently experienced. We ordered take-out recently of Mongolian Beef & General Tsoâs Chicken from OhMei. We usually love these dishes and were optimistic after seeing the 4+ rating. We couldnât have been more disappointed. The food was an insult. It was inedible! The deep-fried chicken looked suspicious when we first opened the container: The âchickenâ was in a fried clump of uniform circular balls. There were all the same shape and size. Hmm. Cutting into them, we saw that there was no real meat, only pressed chicken (?) bits and more dough. These balls were far removed from real chicken meat strips. Heaven knows how they were made or what was really in them. And the âbeefâ in our other dish was a slimy inedible substance obviously stewed in meat tenderizer for hoursâŚugh. Totally unappetizing. Vegetables were scarce, no garnishes to speak of and the sauces thick, syrupy and tasted as if they came straight from a container. Considering we paid hefty SW Florida prices for our dishes ($20.95, $23.95), we expected quality food which we by no means received. We can not recommend this restaurant and will not...
