This is by far the best Chinese food I’ve ever had in my life and by far the best Chinese food in Jacksonville and Asian food in Jacksonville. And I can give reasons why:

First of all, what’s usually the biggest issue with bad Asian food? The chicken is either just all fat and it’s rubbery, or it’s rough and stringy. This is neither. You can tell the kitchen straight up cubed perfect, boneless chicken breast and cooked it well. Look at the picture attached, that’s real, high quality chicken. And you can tell in the second picture it’s not too fried either. You can still see the chicken and not just a ball of batter.

Second, my entire life I never could tell you the difference between the quality of any sushi I ate. Sushi is sushi. It’s all made the same and will taste relatively the same… or so I thought. Until coming here. This is the best sushi I’ve ever had. Everything tastes fresh. Like they just cut up the avocado, and only buy avocados that perfectly ripe and not at all mushy. The avocado is fresh, the rice is the perfect amount, and so is the fish.

Lastly, it’s STILL cheap. You can get a ā€œlunch boxā€ for like $11 that has fried rice, a chicken, beef, or shrimp entree of your choice, and three California Roll pieces. And it’s enough to fill you up. Oh, and they also serve these incredible chips while you’re waiting for your food that are like sweet, but not fortune cookie sweet. Kinda tastes like a cinnamon roll in a chip.

Just come eat at One Third Asian House. This isn’t even a paid advertisement, I’m just in love...

Had a late lunch at this place the other day - first time. My wife and I are VERY critical of the asian food we venture to because 1) we're Asian and have had the best of the best through our domestic and international travels....and 2) we're foodies at heart no matter the culinary genre.

Pros: having said all that, this place is very convenient in the area where there's not many choices for distinct and quality. The lunch specials have great prices and portions! great variety of Asian dishes from Chinese, to Japanese, to Thai Lunch prices are very aggressive and fair Full bar option always a plus FRESH skilled and authentic sushi bar always a plus!! Great customer service

Cons Flavor of food is particularly watered down - example: ginger salad dressing is thinned out and watered down Clear soup is bland - better to go with miso soup (not sure this is an option) Curry is watered down without a strong concentration of coconut milk to thicken the sauce. Grilled hibachi proteins are lacking flavor

Then we tried to give this place a second chance with a takeout order: Called in an order of Pad Thai, Gen Tso's Chicken, and Hibachi steak+Shrimp.

The Bad: gen tso was stale. How is this even possible? Tasted like the chicken was super old and the breading wasn't even fully cooked/fried on the outside

steak hibachi was again lacking flavor.

shrimp hibachi was tough and over cooked

The ugly: pad Thai noodles were undercooked and lacked flavor.

I'm pretty sure we won't be visiting...

The sushi and sashimi is good. The seaweed salad is small and overpriced. The Thai Tea Leaves much to be desired. I usually place a take out order on the website, pay on the website, and go pick it up. I spend 80.00+ each time. Despite a 20+ minute drive time to get there I wait 20-40 mins each time. This restaurant is rarely busy when I order and pick up so I'm not sure what takes so long. I also ask for extra ginger and the last few times I've noticed a 3-5.00 charge on my credit card is placed separately from the order total and tip I paid on the website. Apparently they are charging me for the extra ginger despite never once telling me there was an additional charge or asking me to pay for the ginger. I don't like that they have the ability to take my card information from the website and charge it as they see fit. The charges are not consistent so I'm unsure what these charges are, I'm just guessing it's for the ginger, however since there is zero communication from them about it, it's just a guess. I can't help but wonder how the charges go when you dine in with them. Overall, between the service and additional charges, the food is just not worth it. There is a pizza place next door that seems to have constant traffic so we may try that next time we go out...
