Just for context, my family and I were excited to try this Vietnamese place and have boba drinks. We drove out of our way to this location.
As you walk in, you're greeted with a weird smell. Like old gas station smell. Which I guess is understandable as this restaurant is connected to a gas station.
But the place feels DIRTY, sticky floors, dust everywhere, rust and water marks. My daughter even asked why her sandals were sticking to the floor. Even though I felt like we should turn around and never come back, I still gave it a chance, hopeful for delicious food and boba drinks.
After taking some time to look at their menu, which seems OVERPRICED, we made our selection and were heading to order. The staff was mostly on their cellphones and barely spoke with us. When ordering, she mentioned they were OUT OF BOBA, which is the main reason we drove this way.
We were disappointed even more but still ordered food to go. It felt like such a LONG WAIT for what we ordered and keeping in mind the place was empty.
I was starving by the time we got home, I started eating my spring rolls and three bites in, and I find HAIR IN MY FOOD. Absolutely disgusting!
We will never return to this place and will definitely not recommend it to anyone. I think it is a good concept, but it definitely needs tons of work. The wall of free meals is amazing, but I would NOT eat here again, even if it was free.
I gave it a two star on service because staff pointed us to a great boba place down the road (Bean and...
Read moreI had a banh mi Door Dashed to a different business. The bread is definitely not traditional banh mi bread, but more of a hoagie-style that you'd make at home for a pedestrian ham-and-cheese sandwich. No crunchiness on the crust at all, and that had nothing to do with the delivery...the bread simply sucks.
What also sucks is the quantity of the meat. There were two layers, maybe three in some areas. Pitiful. I've had banh mi at most Vietnamese shops in Pcola and from the An An food truck, but this sandwich should embarrass the owners of this shop. Two layers of meat. The significant flavor was the pickled sweet carrot, which was delicious, but not delicious enough to disguise the lack of meat.
I'm glad that I finally had an opportunity to have one of these sandwiches, but disappointed that it sucked. I'll go get an authentic banh mi from the Vietnamese groceries in Pcola or one from the awesome An An food truck from now on.
TL:DR The bread sucks and the amount of meat is...
Read moreSO wanted to love this place! Went there for lunch today and had #8 which was the best bang for the buck. Other menu items kind of pricey I thought. I have only been to the Vietnamese restaurant on Davis Hwy which is really good and has more American condiments you can add. Two eggs rolls were good but no sweet sour/hot mustard in the house. Hoisin or hot chili were the only choices. The main dish with pork was more fat than pork and we both had to pick out half of the meat because it was just strips of fat. Needed Hoisin and pepper to flavor because pretty bland. They did have soy available also. I notice the menu list beef broth in everything-even with chicken which I thought odd. Hot tea was just warm and weak for my English taste. Staff nice and friendly and keeping up pretty well considering it is just opened. We are waiting to see if they run some weekly specials, but I am leery after the pork/fat problem. Would have preferred the chicken, but too epensive for...
