My wife and I visited here on the morning of March 25, 2025 during a 3 day camping trip on Pine Island. I'd read the reviews (all very favorable), so I put it on my "punch list" of activities to do during our trip. On driving there, I noted it was in a very odd location, at the back end of an industrial park area, but it sat on the west bank of large pond and had a deck area out back where you could drink your coffee and eat your pastry orders. The restaurant is very long and narrow, and has a large pastry glass display case along the main entrance alley. We each got a fresh baked chocolate croissant, but didn't want to order a fancy espresso or latte because there was only one cashier/attendant at the counter. Instead we just ordered two large regular brewed coffees. The coffee pot was almost empty when we placed our order, so the attendant said she would make a fresh pot and apologized that it would be a few minutes before it would be finished brewing. When we got the coffees about 10 minutes later, they were so strong (bold) that we couldn't even get it tamed down even after putting in about 6 creamers into each of our cups. The condiment area also did not have any Sweet and Low, or a thermos with milk or half-and-half. The croissants we ordered were delicious, but the quality of the coffee and condiments bar was definitely sub-par here. We were disappointed that the reviews we read before driving here were so inflated and didn't match with our...
Read moreThe best place on the island. Croissants are amazing. Butter croissants or almond. Egg and cheese croissants are my sonâs favorite. They are huge and the eggs cooked perfectly. The pastries are delicious and the quality is superior to anything you can find nearby. The sandwiches are huge and delicious from what Iâve been told. The coffee is delicious⌠almond milk latte made proper. The vibe is welcoming, friendly, efficient, and always seems to have a stream of people. The husband is in the back baking and the wife is up front at the counter making coffee, prepping food, and dealing with the register. She is as sweet as can be and very efficient. They seem to take breaks when away for a long stretch and always have a note on the door and update the website here when closed which is good. Love their cafe. I send any visitor there. Hope it stays...
Read moreOn an island where there is not much and even less to do, a place like Pine Island Getaway Cafe really saves the day and brings some light to the locals. Beware that when driving to this place it feels like youâre going the complete wrong way, although thatâs how it feels driving through most of Pine Island, but trust your gps for once. They have tons of bakery items that all look delicious- my mouth watered just looking at them. I thought their coffee was pretty good! As well as we got a scrambled egg croissant type thing and that was the perfect, scrumptious breakfast. They have a nice screened in patio that looks out into the nothingness of Pine Island, and itâs really just a nice experience overall! I donât recommend visiting Pine Island personally but if you do or stay in Matlacha nearby, this is a...
