Went to Reds today with a friend and the kids. The service was fantastic, the waitress was super sweet and attentive. The fried green tomatoes are EVERYTHING! Always good every time we go. My son ordered the breakfast burger and loved it!
Now to the negatives: We ordered water- absolutely disgusting. It tastes like old dirty socks smell. So we decided to order Coke and Diet Coke- again absolutely disgusting I’m guessing because of how horrible the lake water is they use as drinking water. The waitress felt horrible and tried explaining it was due to the “rain water”. As a business owner you should most definitely have extra filters or a softener system in place. None of us drank anything while we were there, which made for a not so great brunch.
The cinnamon roll. My daughter, who is 9, ordered the cinnamon roll. It was big but that’s it. It was cold and extremely dry. She asked the waitress to heat it up in the microwave, which she did. It didn’t help with the dryness but at least made the icing not hard. My 9 year old child said she never wanted to go back and that I should give them my cinnamon roll recipe lol.
They have nothing for vegans. My 11 year old is vegan due to health issues and the only thing she could eat was slices of watermelon and the cinnamon apples, which I’m pretty sure is just for filling in a cup. It was so sweet she couldn’t eat them. In 2024 it’s about time you have options for everyone. I felt really bad that she couldn’t eat breakfast or lunch with us.
I had eggs, sausage, and toast. I was expecting good sausage links- it is a breakfast place but I guess it’s my own fault for assuming. Instead I received sausage patties- if they were real sausage patties I would’ve been fine. These are like the ones that come frozen out of a bag with no taste. Definitely not quality that should be in a restaurant but more on a fast food breakfast sandwich. The eggs were cold and flavorless.
I’m mainly giving it 3 stars because of our waitress. If not I probably would’ve only given it 1-2 stars. Most of the food was gross/dry/cold. We couldn’t drink anything while we were eating. It just was not a good experience. I was grateful I only brought 3 of the kids instead of our entire family of 8. I think we will continue going to New England cafe instead of here.
Reds is overpriced for the quality you receive and just not worth it at all. I’m guessing that’s why they no longer have lines out the door on a Saturday. That should’ve told us everything before we even walked in the door. Small changes could make a world of difference for...
Read moreWe finally visited Red’s on a Saturday morning in July, 2024. We arrived fairly early, so it was fairly quiet. We have been trying to try Red’s for months, but just could not get it done. They are only open Tuesday - Sunday, 7Am - 2PM. So they are breakfast and lunch only. So anyway, we arrived around 8AM. As I said, Red’s was quiet when we arrived. We were told to sit where we would like. We chose a table inside, instead of out on the deck. Then we met our waitress. Her name was Shannon. (I hope I spelled that correct) Anyway, Shannon was a pleasure to meet, and was top notch. Originally from Texas, Shannon made our breakfast visit a delight. I ordered Eggs Benedict (which was very good). The potatoes were great. But I wanted to try the sausage gravy. So Shannon added a little on my potatoes, so I could give it a try. So I got to have both. The wife had French toast, with extra real butter. (Thank you Shannon) Which the wife also really enjoyed. So our meal was excellent in all respects. The prices seemed fair to us. The portions were not going to let us leave hungry. What more could we want. But let mer be fair. We really enjoyed Red’s. Folks who only like high class dining, may not be as happy as we were. So remember, it’s more of a country rustic style restaurant, with good food. If you’re OK with that. You may enjoy Red’s. The staff all seemed very friendly and seemed to want folks to have a great experience. One even went out a squeegeed the dew off of the windows, so folks could have a nice view of a beautiful morning. It probably cleaned them as well. Just nice folks. As I already said, the restaurant itself was of rustic style. Lots of wood, pretty dark (that some folks may not care for), and just my style of a country eatery. I felt home again. It’s been a while since we have been in a private restaurant instead of all the chain restaurants that seem to be the normal anymore. I will say that I didn’t care for how the light bulbs in the table lamp, over our table, shined in my face. I had to put my hat on so that the brim would block it. Unfortunately, that goes against my rule of not wearing my hat at the dinner table. The wife said that the ladies room continued the rustic theme. And was clean. So if you like rustic style eateries, Red’s is your place. I normally do not give out a lot of five star ratings, unless they are above and beyond in their field. Red's is not perfect. But they are quite good. I gave them five stars. More importantly, we will...
Read moretook my wife here the other morning for breakfast, since we live just a few miles away in Beverly Hills, and both had the morning off. we have visited Red's many times in the 10 years we have been together but had not visited recently for about a year. first issue was service was slow. this i could overlook a little because the place had only been open about half an hour and only one waitress on duty. fine. the first hint of trouble was she seemed more interested in yacking with two regulars (they were all on a first name basis, and the patrons ordered without even looking at the menu, they were that familiar with it). we had to call the waitress over to let her know we were ready. i ordered an omelet, wife ordered eggs and sausage. wife commented that her coke tasted funny, and brought this to the waitress's attention. she said maybe the mixture was off, and did not offer a replacement drink. waitress did not ask what kind of toast i wanted with my breakfast, and when she brought it the side of fruit was missing. she proceeded to argue with me that it did not come with fruit, and i had to show her in the menu that fruit was included. while we were eating, the waitress continued her conversation with the regulars and went into unnecessary details about how most of her family are alcoholics and oxycontin addicts. NOT what you want to hear when trying to enjoy your breakfast with your wife. when we went to the register to pay i noticed a sign that said $3 charge for CREDIT CARDS. i asked if that applied to debit cards, which i was told yes. I suggested they change the sign to read all card transactions, since there's a difference between a credit card and a debit card. "Meh" was the response i got. FOOD: the omelet was runny, the potatoes were overcooked and dry, and ive already addressed my wife's drink. the quality has gone down, and the service was mediocre at best. i was put off by the $3 card charge, which they never had...
