Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Florida

Quick service, always ICE COLD refreshments, and if you sign-up for Ritas email club, you'll get lots of good coupons to use like a FREE treat for your birthday or a BOGO coupon just for joining! However, I docked 1 star simply because I was witness to a paying customer- a mom with 2 small, young children (but old enough that they didn't need diapers) ask to use their restroom. Employee said there's only an "employee" restroom, however, it was very obvious to the rest of us that this was an EMERGENCY for the kids and even after that point was made clear to the employee, they were still told "NO". Unfornately, the mom walked her kids to Ritas so her options were limited whereas most of us would have gotten the kids into the car and quickly drive home or somewhere else. Now, I know rules are rules but we all know that exceptions can be made and considering how nice and seemingly weathly the majority of the immediate surrounding communities are, I do not understand why this employee did not let the poor kids use the bathroom. As the family finally started to leave the premises, I turned around to smile at the kids one last time and the son was using one of their bushes right by the line to pee on while the other had trickles of urine running down her legs while crying probably out of embarrasment! Now SURELY, simply letting the kids use their "employee bathroom" would have been much more customer friendly then having to stand and wait for your frozen Ritas treat while having to watch and deal with the smell of urine. I know the employee was probably doing what he had been taught as he was just a teen-ager himself but maybe Ritas corporation should figure out a way to teach their employees basic COMMON SENSE! Also, their parking lot can be dangerously crowded because of the adjacent high school so be CAREFUL and stay ALERT because the young drivers who don't seem to pay attention to other cars. We had 2 near miss accidents...

We have been coming here for many years, but unfortunately this last Friday, the 10th we stopped by and had the worst experience and nobody will answer the phone line so this is the only way I can communicate I guess. Not only was the guy very rude and impolite, but our ice was INCREDIBLY WATERY!!! We brought my 86 year old grandma for her birthday and we were so disappointed. There was some kind of guy there that looked like a handy man, so I assume something must of been wrong with the coolers that the ice is being held in. But you DO NOT CONTINUE TO SERVE GUESTS WHEN ITS MELTED PRODUCT AND HE OVER FILLED ALL OF THEM SO MY GRANDMAS WAS GOING ALL OVER HERE. Very frustration and disappointing to...

10 minutes before opening I pulled out not knowing they still have 10 minutes till opening, A gentleman said do you want some thing I’m opening right now I can get it for you I had one at mint chocolate chip water ice which I hadn’t seen at Rita’s in years but it used to be my favorite up north. I told the gentleman I was looking for a chocolate chip water ice and he immediately said I’ll make it for you, I said perfect I have to run but I’ll be back tomorrow afternoon to get it.
