I have lived in NYC and grew up in Nj then lived in Philadelphia the last 8 years so you can say I know good bagels. And yes Philadelphia has some great bagels, actually my favorite bagel is from Philadelphia from Korshakās which is temporarily closed.
Anyway, for a Florida bagel itās good but itās not quite up to my standards of being a great bagel but they will fix your craving compared to most of the other bagels in the area.
I ordered an everything just sliced with butter so I can truly taste the bagel and it lacked that nice crust thatās usually formed from boiling and baking the bagel, it was there but just lackluster, not sure if maybe the hot bagels were dumped into baskets and the steam softened it up or what. Wish it had more of that fermented dough flavor. The everything seasoning was plentiful on top and bottomed which i loved and it was plentiful but seemed to have very little garlic and onion and I didnāt taste a bit of salt, plenty of poppy and sesame though.
I also had ordered 2 bacon egg and cheeses one on a croissant and another on an everything bagel. I donāt mind spending $20 on two bagel sandwiches (croissant was an up charge of $2.25!) but I expect to have a nice thick egg and a good amount of bacon. Both had two pieces of bacon and what seemed to be one small egg on them, nice amount of cheddar cheese though but just seemed to be a bit lackluster for the $20 they are charging.
This was my first time here but compared to Brooklyn dough which is even more expensive but they pack their sandwiches with a healthy slab of egg and a bunch of bacon and cheese, well, Iād have to go with Brooklyn doughs sandwiches. The register operator was extremely nice and expedited my order quickly and accurately and the only reason I dropped a couple stars on service is that when I got to the register he received a phone order which took precedence over my order and as soon as he bind up he got another call which again took precedence over my order and really jammed the line up. Not sure why the solo reg operator was taking...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis establishment stole my money for items I did not get. We frequent the Bonita Springs location often. I was going out Sunday and called in to place an order. I had no idea there was another location in Naples, I thought the Bonita was a single mom and pop shop. Ordered a few bagels. Went to Bonita, they didn't have my order and informed me there is a location in Naples I ordered from. The owner at first said they would make the order for no charge since the other location insisted I pay for my order over the phone. I thought that was uncommon, but I still paid by card. Then she changed her mind and called Naples who she claimed said I had to go pick up my order from Naples or I had to pay for both orders since it was my mistake. I understand that, but I also KNOW it doesn't cost THEM $20 for 3 bagels. She also lied and said that the Naples location was "just 10 minutes away". On GPS it was 25 and also another 20 minutes from there I needed to get to. I get it was my mistake but I don't appreciate the back and forth telling me they would make it at no charge and then "oh no wait, I changed my mind" and then lying to me about the drive distance. I worked at a restaurant that had multiple locations and this happens sometimes. Not good customer service as they literally stole $20 from me for goods I did not receive that I am sure they just resold or put back the bagels. Oh and they also messed up my order as well and gave me egg salad instead of the chicken salad I had ordered so I actually lost double...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo we have lived in Estero Florida for the past 10 months and finding a good bagel is extremely hard down here. Friends from Naples came this morning for breakfast and brought bagels from this place. Honestly the best poppy bagel I have had after leaving NJ/ NY area. Took 10 months to find a great bagel but Going forward, this place will be a destination to get bagels on a regular basis. Wife loved here Asiago bagel. Learned that they also have French toast which is my #2 goto bagel.
The true test was since my 1st experience was so memorable, I went the next morning to try it again. Normally your second trip to a restaurant doesn't live up to the hype of the first time. The bagels on my second trip were just as good as the day before.
Waited in line on a Sunday morning and the place was busy, I had about 8 customers in front of me to order. People in front of me send they were from NY and this place was the real deal. This made me think that there are other bagel snobs out there just like me.
I will say its a far ride for me to go to Naples to get bagels from Estero, but when in Naples do yourself a favor and try this place. THIS IS NOT A PAID...
