I gave 5 stars even though I have some criticisms. The food that we ordered was exactly what I expected from the years that my fiancee and I have been patronizing various Bob Evans locations throughout southwest Florida. The food was a little greasy (fried, grilled foods). I don't mind greasy because I'm not a healthful eater. My fiancee however has become more sensitive to greasy cooking as she and I have hit our mid-50's. She gets heartburn from greasy cooking now. The place is well-kept. Clean, tidy. When we went, it was just before noon, and the place was almost empty. Our server did a good job; she got to us pretty quickly upon choosing our table and sitting down. She was attentive (she checked on us often enough to keep my beverage glass filled. I usually need to have my glass filled at least 7 to 8 times for an hour meal. This frequency of refilling my glass seems to be a 'challenge' for many of the restaurants we frequent (before and post COVID). The only criticism I have is that there were no 'warm-fuzzies' from her which I forgive because we were in a hurry to eat and leave for the airport anyway. She was curt and abrupt, and then would rush-off, waiting only long enough to hear our responses to her questions. It seems when business is slow in restaurants, it seems the managers (?) give their staff more busy-work to do, and/or...
Read moreOrdered a burger and fries. Saw the burger ready on the kitchen window in literally a minute... when the server brought it to me there was grease oozing off it and onto the fries. When I bit into the burger it was so undercooked and pink that it looked like it was never even cooked. I showed the server and she took it back. Watched them take the same burger patty (and the piece I already bit off) while the fries sat in,and absorbed the grease that was on the plate. So what I'm saying is they took a piece of meat I bit and chewed a little... put it back on the area where they cook other people's food... and then reserved it to me.(disgusting) When the server brought the plate back it was the nastiest tasting meal I think I've ever attempted to eat. I ended up eating a couple of fries that weren't saturated in uncooked burger grease and a bite or 2 of what tasted like a microwaved leftover burger from a week before... with the texture of rubber 😂. I mean this burger was just awful. They need to fire about everyone in there because the last 3 times the food was good but the service was terrible. Now that I think of it I should've took a picture of that burger because I definitely could've...
Read moreI'll start this review by saying that I grew up in Columbus Ohio, not far from the original Bob Evans farm, so I am quite familiar with the original service, food, and amenities of Bob Evans restaurants.
The food is overpriced and quite frankly it was bad. My whole wheat toast had an off-putting smell, along with artificial margarine on it. The sausage is not at all like the original recipe. They private label their ketchup, which is bad and has high fructose corn syrup in it.
I got the rise and shine breakfast for $9.19 which includes your choice of meat, eggs, potatoes, and toast. For $12.69 you can get the whole hog, which has sausage patties, sausage links, bacon, country ham, a pancake, French toast, and potatoes. So for an extra $3.50 you can get bacon, sausage links, country ham, French toast, and a pancake. You figure it out.
This chain was starting to decline when I left Columbus in 2017 and it hasn't improved at all, and in fact, has gone downhill even further. This is one of the few times in my life when I have not finished a breakfast because of the...
