Title: The Extravagant Taco Tuesday: A Reflection on Excessive Spending
In the year 2023, I embarked on a culinary adventure that left me both satisfied and bewildered. Taco Tuesday, a beloved tradition for many, took an unexpected turn as I found myself partaking in an extravagant dining experience. While indulging in delicious tacos and refreshing drinks, the exorbitant bill of $100.00 for two people left me questioning the rationality of such excessive spending. This essay aims to explore my Taco Tuesday experience, shedding light on the implications of lavishness in a world where frugality and practicality are increasingly valued.
The allure of Taco Tuesday Taco Tuesday has long been a cherished tradition, offering an opportunity to savor delectable Mexican cuisine at affordable prices. It has become a weekly ritual for many, providing a respite from the monotony of everyday life. The anticipation of indulging in mouthwatering tacos, accompanied by vibrant salsas and refreshing beverages, adds an element of excitement to the dining experience.
The unexpected extravagance However, my recent Taco Tuesday experience took an unexpected turn when I found myself confronted with an exorbitant bill. The realization that I had spent $100.00 for two people on a seemingly simple meal left me astounded. It was a stark departure from the modest expectations I had for this beloved tradition. The question arose: how did Taco Tuesday, once a symbol of affordability, transform into an extravagant affair?
The evolving culinary landscape The transformation of Taco Tuesday into an extravagant event can be attributed to the evolving culinary landscape. In recent years, there has been a surge in the popularity of fusion cuisine and gourmet interpretations of traditional dishes. This culinary revolution has led to an increase in prices, as chefs experiment with unique ingredients and techniques to create elevated dining experiences. Consequently, the once humble taco has been elevated to a gourmet delicacy, accompanied by a price tag that reflects its newfound status.
The influence of social media Another factor contributing to the excessive spending associated with Taco Tuesday is the influence of social media. In the age of Instagram and food bloggers, the presentation and aesthetics of a meal have become paramount. Restaurants capitalize on this trend by creating visually stunning dishes that are designed to be shared online. The desire to capture the perfect food photograph often leads to a willingness to pay a premium for an aesthetically pleasing dining experience, further fueling the...
Read moreThis was a very disappointing visit for me and my 2 friends! I chose this restaurant because I had been with another friend for lunch and the food and service were very good!! My friend, Shari, just lost her husband to cancer and me and my other friend, Alyssa wanted to treat her for a nice dinner and atmosphere! Shari and I arrived first, the hostess was sweet and sat us, and then a young man ( on receipt his initials were AJN), came over and threw chips and salsa on the table and walked away!! We told him we wanted some cheese queso and when he brought it, it was cold!! I just ate it and didn't even say anything!! Never once asked us what we wanted to drink!! Then, we asked the hostess if she was our waitress, and she said no, that he was! We told her we were thirsty and she proceeded to get our drinks! He never even came back to the table until my other friend, Alyssa got there! She asked for a Bloody Mary, and his response was " I don't know how to make it!" So, she asked for strawberry daiquiri and he brought her a margarita! She liked it, so no problem! Then, our food came, and he abruptly told us not to touch the plates very rudely!! I must admit, the food was delicious! I told him me and my friend, Alyssa were splitting the bill. When he brought the bill, it was all one check! I got my credit card out to pay my half and Alyssa had $100 cash. He proceeded to say, "No, we can't do that! It has to be either card or cash ". I was furious because then my friend, Shari, said, " well, let me pay the tip", and handed him a $20 bill on the $89.00 bill!! Me and Alyssa were so pissed and never even checked our bill! When she got home, she called me and sent me a copy of the bill, and he had overcharged us!! I called the restaurant and spoke to the owner, Edwin, who was very apologetic and thanked me multiple times for calling and informing him of what we experienced!! My friend, Alyssa, texted him asking to be reimbursed for poor service and being overcharged and she got no response!! I must say, this a HUGE disservice and disappointment for a sympathy dinner for our other great friend, Shari, who just lost her husband!! I would never recommend this restaurant to ANYONE, and definitely will...

COVID-19 did not stop this wild ride. My party of two chose to seat ourselves outside due to today's health climate. It was neat, clean, and the tables looked new. This was our first visit here and my initial impression was that it would be the standard mexican fare. Our waiter's name, I sadly cannot recall, but he was taller and very affable. It was my birthday! And he went out of his way to make sure it was memorable. Before arriving, I had looked at the menu online and thought skinny margaritas were available but turned out it was not. However he made me one! The Corona Rita was also very plentiful and large definitely something to get the party started. There was a stereo with DJ capabilities which I met the DJ. He made sure the music was not too loud for conversation.
Chicken quesadilla and Tilapia a la diabla! The portions were plentiful and there was much thought on the plating so it did not appear as if the food was thrown on there. My waiter came back and asked how I wanted the tilapia cooked. I WAS SHOOK as if I had a personal chef and I was very moved. The food was very good and it seems I have a new favorite dish since I usually always get the chicken or shrimp fajitas. The fire / taste was there! Loved it. If I had to be picky, I would say I was lacking pico de gallo, lettuce and guacamole.
Towards the end of the evening, it was a surprise when drums were sounding and a myriad of wait staff came out with their drums and sombrero for me to wear as they wished me a happy birthday! Oh!also I had a nice shot of tequila to put one more strand of hair on my chest. It was done unprovoked and had an air of genuine sincerity about wishing me a happy birthday.
Really, I...
