Used to Love this location but it's definitely taking a downward spiral when it comes to customer service. I ordered online and was quoted 20 minutes. I arrived at 15 minutes and expected to wait since I was early and they were busy. When I approached the counter the young lady looked up my order and I told her I made a mistake amd meant to order 1 soft taco and 1 hard taco if they hadn't made it yet would it be possible to change it. She said oh sorry I'm sure it's ready. No worries that was my mistake just wished she would have asked someone who may thought about making a guest happy but that became the least of my worries. I paid, got my sauces to go and patiently waited, after 20 minutes I started to wonder if they forgot. I'm a restaurant manager and I've never seen so many employees genuinely not care, if I had a guest waiting for take out and sit that long they would have been checked on and kept in the loop that their food was working, sorry for the delay...something!! After watching people come in, order, eat and leave I began to get annoyed and went to the counter, I got a young ladies attention to check on my 2 tacos that have now taken 50 minutes from when my order was placed. She looks at the togo bags and what do you know...My food was sitting there the whole time...50 minutes later I leave with two ice cold hard tacos and not a single apology or...
Read moreThe evening of July 3rd, we took the kids out for dinner—we’re moving and between packing, cleaning, and just trying to keep three tiny humans alive, convenience is survival. As part of our “Orlando Farewell Tour,” we chose one of my favorites: Tijuana Flats. Fun, casual, kid-friendly… they even offer applesauce and apple juice with their kids meals. Perfect, right?
We spent around $60—app, entrees, kids meals. Our 2 year old twins were happy, staying in their seats, and our 10 months old was squealing with excitement over his shredded chicken. No tantrums, just the usual baby joy sounds.
A college-aged, and clearly undertrained, employee walked up and said: “I’m going to have to ask you guys to try to keep it down. I get they’re kids and all, but can you try to keep them quieter please?”
I was stunned. We were one of the only table in the restaurant. I truly thought he was joking. But nope—he was dead serious.
As someone navigating postpartum depression and anxiety, that moment hit hard. I felt embarrassed, angry, and ashamed. We boxed up our food, left, and I emailed corporate. Maybe nothing comes of it. But maybe—just maybe—another family in a vulnerable moment won’t be shamed like we were.
Call me crazy, but if your restaurant offers applesauce as a side, maybe don’t police the happy...
Read moreI have been a long time fan of Tijuana Flats, but after today I will never step foot in there again! First off we went because kids were supposed to eat free today with an accompanying adult entree; however we were told that the kids could not order anything off the regular menu, only on the kids menu. This was not stated anywhere on their flyer or text message promotion. Although we felt duped we decided to eat there anyways. Secondly the girl behind the counter was rude and not very pleasant. Thirdly after eating most of all my salad I noticed a rather larger lettuce stump; since when does this count as lettuce! Really! I left that day knowing I would not come back to that particular location, however not even an hour later my husband began to complain that his stomach hurt, & was queasy; ultimately he rushed to the bathroom & after a short time I was nauseous & my stomach started cramping up. As I also rushed to the bathroom I notice that my daughter was also sick as well! This is no coincidence we all ate at the same place and got food poisoning... I am beyond appalled, NEVER AGAIN will I step foot into any chain restaurant of Tijuana Flats; it is not worth the wasted money, lack of respect, attitude nor getting sick (and having the runs)!!! Do Not Eat Here, unless you want the same...
