Definitely deserves zero stars, but that was an option. My husband, daughter and I went for a mid day lunch. It wasn’t busy, but my daughter wanted to sit at the countertop, there was one other table and then someone at the low bar. Our server was a little blonde, Mariah or Michala. I did see her name tag, but I didn’t record it in my mind. The cook Immediately started talking about how he didn’t want to be there. He was burning bacon without the weights, and the “ purple haired lady”, as my husband referred to her coddled him and his hangover, as he so expressed because of the Florida Georgia game the night before over and over again, we immediately made our order with our server, but the purple hair lady continued to keep calling out orders even of people that weren’t in the restaurant, we left the building at 2:52 PM so I hope management definitely checks the cameras. We probably sat there for 20 minutes sitting and waiting and listening and watching the cook burn all the food. Finally, the one server calls out one more order no one else in the restaurant so maybe they were to go, but our initial server never tried to even call out our order. I looked at my husband and I said would you like to go somewhere else and he said yes let’s go. My daughter ordered an apple juice so we stood up. The purple haired lady asked if everything was OK and I said no we’re gonna leave because our order has not even been called yet after all this time, but we would like to pay for the apple juice. The three workers all had an attitude so we had to stand there very uncomfortably just trying to pay for an apple juice and as we’re walking out the door, the purple hair lady says very sarcastically. I hope you have a great day, again very sarcastically. I was already out this second Door and I said that was really rude and my husband stopped and said yes that was very rude, back to her. And we continue to leave. Granted, we didn’t do anything wrong. I did mention I said I also don’t want my bacon to look like that. The grill was too hot and It was literally white and black; white gristle and black bacon my 13-year-old daughter even mentioned as we walked out the door wow that guy really didn’t wanna be here today so we drove 3 miles up the road to the Waffle House on 220. We went in we ordered we ate and we left in 20 minutes and it was way worth it. I have never had the experience that I had today at a waffle house. And trust me I definitely know waffle House as a previous district manager. I definitely urge management to watch the videos of the time that we were there. It was very disgraceful, sad and definitely not an experience that anyone would want to watch at a waffle House and obviously just a learning experience for my 13-year-old daughter on how not to ever be. Thankful for the staff at the restaurant on 220 they were polite. The cook was great. My husband talked about how great...
Read moreI don't think I've ever had a bad experience at a Waffle House until today. I was already out alone with my 3 kids trying to enjoy a morning breakfast with them but to have bad service at a Waffle House was the most stressful part. I go about every other weekend between middleburg and the orange park location depending on how busy the locations look. My husband works on most Saturdays so this is my quality time with my boys. But today I had Stewart as a waiter & it was disappointing. I really thought about it before I left a review because people are allowed to have off days & not be their best all the time. But when I saw this same server smiling & being polite to other tables before I left I decided it didn't feel like an off day, it felt like it was my table. I had to walk up & ask for my son's bacon because Stewart didn't even come back after dropping the food to ask if everything was ok or if I was missing anything. I had to go to the register to get a refill on my drink which a nice lady assisted me with. I had to ask the very kind greeter to get me boxes and a bag so I could leave. & I wasn't rushing. I was patient. We were there for an hour. My server simply never came back to ask any questions or assist me. He had the most bland personality of any waffle house employee I've ever encountered. It truly seemed like he'd rather be anywhere else. & I still left over a 20% tip because I had my kids with me & I know they're messy & loud so I felt that was the right thing to do. But it was definitely not due to the service I received. And from now on I will only be taking my boys to another location. I do want to give appreciation to the other 3 employees who actually assisted me like the lady at the register, the greeter & the gentleman that brought by boys some paper hats. I wish I had gotten all their names. They're the reason this isn't a 1 star review. Other than the food that was...
Read moreI visited this establishment on Monday July 21 between 2 and 2:30 pm. I ordered a quarter pound cheeseburger and hashbrowns with grilled onions, grilled well and a sweet tea. The waitress forgot my drink and the mayonnaise I asked for, that was ok. When I received the hashbrowns there were about 7 barley grilled onions. That was ok. What was not ok was when I sent them back and the cook decided she would make 4 other orders before she fixed my hashbrowns, that I had already waited for and she cooked incorrectly the first time. I told them to take off the hashbrowns since I finished my burger. Then the cook decided to say that she had 4 other orders before mine and I said yes but you messed mine up and I was here first. You should have fixed mine so I could eat all of my food together, not send it to the end of the line of orders. She continued to talk back to me and I said that is OK I can leave and not come back and she continued to talk at me and then I said I can call corporate too and we can see what they say about your training. I was going there about once a week however, I will not go back to that waffle house as long as that girl is there. Unfortunately I failed to get her name but waffle house corporate should be able to find out who she is and properly train her on what to do when you make a mistake on an order. You fix it as quick as you are able, you don't send it to the end of line of several orders. And you certainly don't argue with the customer when they lodge the complaint. And since I work in hotel and travel I will certainly direct guests toward different dining alternatives in the future, so they will not suffer...
