Wings N Things — Restaurant in Florida

Wow! What HORRIBLE service! Literally comical! Not sure of her name, but a red headed bartender with ponytails working may have been the worst person I have ever dealt with! Where to begin... I live in the Gulf Gate area and did some research on where to meet a buddy for National Wings Day. We both wanted to try someplace new. I did some research reading reviews and this place sounded great! I then found them on FB and saw they're doing $.75 wings as a special tonight. 25 minute drive...seemed worth it! Sat down and asked if I could start with a water which was my first mistake. I had every intention of having a beer by the way! Then we waited a MINIMUM of 25 mins before she made it clear to us that she wanted nothing to do with us. I finally was able to flag her and ask if we could get some help. During this process, there was a barback who said he was new but we were able to ask questions of. This guy (he had bleached hair, didn't catch his name) was FANTASTIC! He answered all of our questions and sold us on a couple different flavors. Unfortunately he wasn't able to take our order. So we finally get her to help us (her job, right?!?) & my buddy asks about another flavor to what her response was, "I'm not a flavor, I don't know". What does that even mean?!? A different barback delivered our food and he was great as well! I had to ask him to fill my water which had been sitting out at the top of the bar for 10 minutes which if I actually got some service, I would have also ordered a beer. The wings were pretty good. Never got her to come over and ask how everything was so I guess no beer. Then the first barback who was mentioned came over to her and said the head of the table sitting at a table needed something. She asked him if it was the guy with long blonde hair. He said yes. She said she's not helping that guy and not dealing with him?!? I looked over at the 6 or 7 top and they seemed to be good people to me. None of my business, however, she made it my business as I was at the end of the bar and she had this conversation right next to me. She then conversed with the other female bartender that she will not be working for Wings Day next year...let's hope not. I also hope that includes everyday in between....what a miserable human being! So now the check. I thought about paying credit card so I could leave her a note on why my tip is gonna suck to her. I come from the service industry and tip very generously when I get great service. My bill was $8.03 and I purposely left $9 which felt like too much given the experience...u do know u work for tips, correct? Given the special itself, a great server would have received a $5-$10 tip on that bill. Possibly just a $20 left. Sooooo, as we are now walking out closer to closing 10:20ish, she makes the comment to us to. "Please never come back"...quote, unquote! Was actually impressed she said please, lol. Oh and btw, don't worry, I will definitely make sure to never come back and will be happy to spread the word within my network! ...

Horrible customer service. I sat down at the bar alone to order wings and a drink. For years, I have heard how great the wings are... I am a longtime resident of 30 years.... I was asked what I'd like to drink. I said I'm not sure and asked for a menu so I may decide... The blonde bartender with a bun walked away and proceeded to tend to other customers. Three minutes later, another blonde bartender came and asked me what I wanted to drink. Again, I asked for a menu to decide what I wanted. She handed me a menu and shook her head as if I was an inconvenience. She obviously didn't realize I was brushed off by the previous bartender. Mind you, its dinnertime, and they were 80% occupied. I apologized and said, "I'm sorry, I didn't know I should have my drink order ready." She rolled over her eyes as if I was being rude or a nunsense.

Offended, I just left.... After 30 years, I was hoping to eat and drink at a Sarasota favorite but decided against it due to the lack of hospitality. It's not a good way to greet locals. I've never walked out of a restaurant/sports bar until today.

UPDATE: I came here for Superbowl Sunday, hoping for a better experience. I came to meet a group of friends. I came in and couldn't tell if we checked in at the outside table set up OR seat myself. After wandering for a few minutes, I asked if there were servers. A young female with brown hair came and asked me what I wanted. I asked for a drink menu, She said there wasn't one. I asked her if she could tell me what they had. The entire time, she was looking at the TV but was telling me the list at the same time. I was going to order wings and fries for the table and asked what kind of fries... I was told universal "crinkle." I prefer shoe strings fries. After seeing Stella on tap, I ordered the Stella. A heavy set strawberry blonde-red-headed bartender came over to deliver the beer and ask me what I wanted to eat. I asked again about the fries, but she became aggravated when I asked her if it was thicker than a pencil. She walked away and began complaining to the entire bar. It made it very uncomfortable hearing her voice over all the people in the restaurant. I told her it made me uncomfortable, and she told me I could go outside. I decided not to eat there and returned the full beer and wings. After leaving and wishing the employees outside a good night, a young boy, who served the chicken wings to my table, ran outside to smile and say, "Have a good night," giggling to himself. Save yourself a trip... I told my friends we'll go somewhere else. Also, note that I was told the owners daughter was sitting at the bar!!!!

Moral to the story: The definition of insanity is expecting a...

this place seems like the type of place that has its regulars and such, so this review probably won’t matter, but our experience was super crappy so i feel like leaving it lol.

my boyfriend and i went in tonight (it’s thursday, so they advertise a $8.50 burger + fry meal— we’ll circle back to this). my boyfriend orders the burger meal, i ordered 6 bone-in wings and an appetizer. they were busy, but not anything different than any other place you’d go to in a week night, so we were a bit shocked when it took us over a half an hour to just get our appetizer. but then it took an ADDITIONAL 40 minutes (over an hours in total) to get our actual food. the waitress gives us our food and without even the standard, “everything look okay” or “do you need anything else” that you’d normally get places, she immediately leaves as soon as she gives it to us. his burger didn’t come with any condiments that he asked for, which usually wouldn’t be a big deal, but the waitress is like, impossible to get ahold of. i don’t know if she’s the only person that works there, but man she does not come back lol. i mean we ordered and then didn’t see her until our food was ready (someone else brought our appetizer) so my boyfriend is super irritated at this point. we’ve waited over an hour for our food, and my wings were pathetic. every single one of my wings were about the size of a quarter, and basically nothing but bone and crispy skin. there was seriously no meat on them and they tasted like char. this is a place that literally has ‘wings’ in the name and that’s what they serve??? (and the 6 piece wing is $10.00….)

so then it comes around to us getting the check, and somehow the $8.50 burger + fry is now a $10.50 burger and fry. at this point my boyfriend is so annoyed and just ready to leave by now that he just does the scan to pay and doesn’t even mention it.

our waitress, while she wasn’t mean or rude, wasn’t nice either. and honestly we aren’t the type of people to complain about things while out but even if we were, i feel like i wouldn’t have just because of the demeanor she gives off.

overall, the experience left a bad taste in my mouth (other than the wings). the time we had to wait for the food was insane, then after waiting so long the food wasn’t even good. the price was higher than advertised, and we left feeling unsatisfied and like we wasted $30+. unfortunately we probably won’t be going back here and definitely won’t be recommending it...
