A Hidden Gem That Feels Like Home
If you haven’t been to Zarate’s Family Restaurant yet, you’re truly missing out on one of the best dining experiences in town. From the moment you step through the door, you’re greeted with the warm, inviting atmosphere of a small family-owned place where everyone seems genuinely happy you came. It’s the kind of spot where the staff remembers your name, your favorite dish, and even how you like your coffee (or water in our case).
The food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every single bite tastes like it was made with love and a dash of family tradition. You can tell the so much work has been put into the recipes to perfect them. Whether you’re craving comfort food classics or something with a little creative twist, Zarate’s delivers every single time. The flavors are fresh, balanced, and cooked to perfection—no shortcuts here.
And let’s talk about value. In a world where a lot of restaurants charge more and serve less, Zarate’s is a breath of fresh air. The prices are incredibly reasonable, especially considering the outstanding quality of the food. You can enjoy a full, hearty meal without feeling like you’ve just emptied your wallet.
The portions are humongous—truly generous in a way that makes you feel cared for. You’ll probably find yourself taking home a box for later, and trust me, leftovers from Zarate’s taste just as amazing the next day.
Between the unbeatable prices, the mouthwatering flavors, and the warm, family-like atmosphere, Zarate’s Family Restaurant has easily earned the title of “best food in town.” It’s the kind of place you recommend to everyone you know, the kind of place you keep going back to, not just for the food, but for the feeling of being part of something special. My wife and I have brunch there every Saturday as well as dinner multiple times a month.

Read moreAs a former server of Zarates I can tell you that the place is very disorganized. The cook owner talks down to the servers treats them as "less than" does not know kitchen abbreviations whatsoever and I honestly don't think he knows his own menu, hence his frustration when we write an order. He is very unprofessional and unless you are in his family has no concern for you. I absolutely LOVED the customers of Zarate's and they honestly are the main reason I tolerated the treatment I received at Zarate's. The kitchen help has been seen drinking on duty and in the secondary dining area. The owner was brushing his teeth in the sink by the grill when I walked in one day and he turned his head when he saw me. The salads are made in the same area as the bus pans full of dirty dishes are stationed. The only thing going for the place is a huge portion of food for a low price and a couple servers who really care and 2 of us just quit due to the treatment we received. One very experienced server left during a breakfast shift over the chaos caused by other employees a couple months ago. Customers are not to blame here. They are great though the tips are low, but I thank you. If you are concerned with how employees who aren't family of the owner are treated and care about single Moms and the need of a paycheck without verbal assaults and disrespect then find another restaurant. If not Englewood go to Venice. Many choices in the area. Most unprofessional and tacky restaurant I have ever worked in my life and I am only a part time server but also a secret shopper, and business owner myself. I know customer service. I know professionalism. I know common decency. I know cleanliness. Do yourself a favor a...

When my friend Alyce proposed that we meet here for lunch, I was happy to try this new place since I had read good things about it in my local paper. Service by Jamie-Lynn was superb, could not have asked for a more attentive server. Alyce ordered the SPANIKOPITA which I understand is like a GREEK SALAD served with a SPINACH PIE on the side. It was humongous and she took quite a bit of it home. I tried the CUBAN SANDWICH, which came with FRIES as well as a cup of HOME MADE CHICKEN SOUP. The soup was out of this world! The fries were crisp and tasteful and Jamie-Lynn was nice enough to let me try some of her Mom's GARLIC DILL DRESSING....loved it!!!! Was not that impressed with the Cuban, it lacked a bit of what I am used to having as an authentic Cuban Sandwich. However, it tasted good, so I'm not complaining. Will...
