Son took me for a surprise lunch. I've so many food restrictions it's hard to find a good place to eat that's not expensive but this place hit the mark! I was craving a bit of spice, a good portion of good chorizo, as close to refried beans as possible (it's very rural WI, y'all!), and all in all, as much of a Mexican meal as possible. I don't really like taking pictures of my food, don't know why, but I wish I had. Half my plate was nothing but chorizo! No melted cheese, no bunch of salad, although I did kinda missed some extra sliced tomato maybe?, and the beans were ok, not seasoned just kinda warmed from the pot and smashed it seemed, and the rice was very good, they were a good accompaniment to the chorizo. I almost finished my plate. That's a lot for me. As to my restrictions? I can't eat eggs or any fowl. So I miss out on Thanksgiving and almost every day because it includes ANY animal with feathers. Quail, pheasant, emu, etc. Not that I'd go out of my way to eat exotic birds, but if anyone was serving them, I'd have to know. Or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will update my review again if I visit in the near future but to me the bathroom and a clean place is everything maybe it's just me. The bathroom was gross smeared poo on walls, toilet bowls and seat not even suitable to squat and do what you have to do. Odor in the bathroom was ugh and soap outdated and mildew building up inside of it other than that this lil spot seems semi busy all times.
Has great potential if it was more clean. I get you can't control ignorant people coming inside to destroy bathrooms, maybe hire another person focusing just on cleaning the store every other hour or so keeping up with until closing hours not just once a day and that's all. This is a great lil spot again maybe it's just me. If this was my business, Id care about the health and safety of others especially somewhere where not only you sell food but cook and make food on the other side of the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat authentic food, so delicious. The beef in my carne asada was sliced perfectly and was very tasty and tender.
Afterwards we shopped in the mini-mart and found many options not found in a standard grocery store.
I especially enjoyed the manzanita sol apple soda, which you can't find just anywhere. I will go back to the mini-mart for some of the more authentic Mexican options you just don't see regularly.
The manager also treated us to a piece of Mexican candy that I wish I had photographed. He gave us a piece of sweet potato flavored candy, yum! It's a lot of sugar, thinking only sugar𤣠which explains why it must be sold in just chunk pieces.
If you're looking for an authentic Mexican grocer and bite to eat when you're in Fon du Lac, make sure to stop at...
