So for all of you who follow my reviews on Google today, I have some wonderful news for you in Forney, Texas just east of Dallas. There is a diamond in a rough. It’s called Southern social. It’s located in Forney Texas inside Dallas college I believe it’s not in the perfect place, but once you find it, it becomes a perfect place to go eat. On a whim today. My wife and I stopped in normally don’t eat Soul food out especially in Dallas because it’s not really that good. I ordered the southern fried chicken at first just to be safe. Then I noticed on their menu they had oxtails so I asked the young lady at the counter which was very friendly. what’s the portion size of your oxtails? She said you roughly get 5 to 7 oxtails I said big or small. She says they’re pretty big. So without second-guessing myself I said let me try them to. I said please don’t disappoint. She says oh we won’t. I promise you when I tell you they did not disappoint. Amen Southern Social Eatery. Those oxtails were so damn good. The fried chicken was off the chain. The collard greens were so tasty and just cooked to perfection, wasn’t really fill the creamy corn but that’s just my preference not saying it was bad at all so you guys if you’re in Forney Texas or anywhere near Forney Texas and you’re looking for some damn good soul food you just get on Highway 80 and head towards East towards Forney Tx and check out Southern Social Eatery. Support, black Love Back the food was amazing to the ownerI’m giving you your flowers because you guys truly deserve them.💯🔥💯 You can’t put a price on Great food. It is definitely worth the drive.See you guys at Southern...

I went here for the first time today with my mom and my honey and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. I was a little shocked that it was in the college cafeteria and not at all decked out like it appeared in the photos, and I almost turned around, but I am glad we decided to stay and try it out!

London took our order, and upon informing her that it was our first time there, she excitedly gave us the inside scoop on the signature dishes. I had the Saulsberry Steak with Garlic Mashed Potatoes, nothing really to write home about. My bf ordered the smothered chops w/rice and a side of mac n cheese and it was great (so much so that I kept eating off his plate), and my mom had the fried pork chops w/fries, also very good, well seasoned, and fried to perfection. We also shared an order of the Honey Hot Wings which were also very good. I can't wait to try more!

For desert, we ordered the Peach Cobbler, Banana Pudding, and at London's recommendation, the Bread Pudding. Hands down, we all enjoyed the Bread Pudding the most, followed by the banana pudding, then the cobbler. London was there to take orders, but her customer service was outstanding! She greeted us with a smile and was very welcoming and informative. She stayed busy the entire time we were there with stocking the fridge with drinks, cleaning, and never missed a beat! Good customer service is hard to find, but exceptional customer service is almost unheard of these days! I seriously wanted to try to steal. Seriously! Shout out to London! Keep up the good work. We so appreciated you making our experience that much...

There just simply aren't enough stars here to reflect the experience I had here today. My mother introduced me to her new favorite spot which has now become mine! As soon as we entered, the atmosphere was ABSOLUTELY beautiful and then I met Ms. Rolanda! She was literally one of the sweetest people I've ever met! You know... the kind of person you encounter and you ask yourself " are we kinfolk?" My mother introduced us and she let me try the black-eyed peas before I ordered anything and they were chefs kiss! I ended up ordering the smothered chicken, black-eyed peas, and the greens and corn bread... oh yea you cant forget the kool aid which Ms. Rolanda let me try before I picked my flavor. Yall don't judge me for eating up all them good groceries... lol I'm pregnant, was starving and had just came from church. The food was BUSTIN 💯! So much so , that i ordered myself another plate to take home and a few orders for my entire family. The food was a hit and Mommy was the hero when I got home! Ms. Rolanda even packed my babies some of her banana pudding which was heavenly!!! The food was delicious you guys but meeting and knowing that someone like Ms. Rolanda made and prepared your food makes it that much better! You have a new regular customer out of me! And I will tell others and bring my family back. If you're a foodie like myself and love yourself some soul food, Southern Social Eatery is where you need to tap...

I agree with some of the reviewers that this place is expensive. But...you get a lot of food for the price. The staff is mostly friendly, seems like the young people working there need remedial training on hospitality. And service, our waiter delivered most of our food, but went to cleaning tables instead of checking on the rest of the food...which was clearly waiting to be picked up. The food was mostly good. Again, I'm agreeing with some reviewers. The collard greens were WAY too sweet. The fried chicken, to me (who likes a lot of salt) was on the edge of being overly salty. The pulled pork sandwich was tasty but too too saucy. If your meat is saucy, please make your coleslaw dryer. The sandwich bread disintegrated due to all the moisture. And the corn cake would have been better if it didn't taste like a dessert. The other sides we ordered were well seasoned and came out hot, but the small amount of mashed potatoes were overly peppered and cold. And PLEASE, PLEASE.... brew your own iced tea!!! You call yourself a Southern restaurant and don't brew the iced tea?!?!? Will eat here again at a later date to see if they have improved.
