What incredible and generous people!

We got home last-minute before Thanksgiving and I called some friends to see where they were getting their turkey. I called their recommendations and no one had turkeys available… until I called Shirley’s Kitchen. They were so friendly and accommodating! They offered to go to a store to get a turkey and smoke it for us over night so we could enjoy it for Thanksgiving. That idea didn’t work out, so they got a turkey they had planned for another occasion and graciously smoked that for us. They communicated throughout the process and were kind and responsive. When I drove over to meet them they were welcoming and the turkey smelled soooooo good. We ate for a few days and wow, we will not be waiting until next Thanksgiving to get another one. These guys can COOK!!

We went on a Sunday morning around 9:15a. It took a few minutes for us to be seated. We could tell they were busy, but we weren't greeted with a smile or anything, just a "follow me" as we were led to a table. Everyone working there seemed stressed and not happy. I have no doubts that opening a new restaurant is hard, but try to find a way to attempt to smile at your guests every once in a while.

We ordered coffee and two "Grandpa" breakfast dishes without the bread. It took about 15 minutes for our orders to arrive and all tasted good. The eggs (over medium and sunny side up) we're perfect, the bacon was crispy and delicious, but the hash browns were seasoned with too much pepper. Overall a good experience and will come back to try lunch...

Waitress, who apparently isn’t a favorite of locals either, ignored us on purpose and every single item we needed, we had to ask for. She made no eye contact, was oblivious of our hands in the air waving her over and just plain was very rude. No refills given of coffee and tea had to ask a cook who ventured out to the front. Waited for food forever once we received it, my oatmeal and toast was cold. The oatmeal was also overcooked, ick. And cold. I ended up walking out I was too mad to speak. I was so hungry. Husband told her when we were checking out how rude she was and we were not paying for cold food. And no service either. We ended up paying for hubbys meal and never will go back. Most terrible service I ever had...
