R'z Cafe And Catering — Restaurant in Fort Branch

Upon entering the café for the 1st time last night, I was very pleased with the décor and overall ambiance. We were welcomed with a smile and taken to our table. Then our waitress (whose name she did not give – but she was older with short blondish hair) came and got our drink orders. When she returned, I told her it was our 1st time eating there and had a question about an item on the menu. She made no comment relating to us being new customers and her demeanor made me feel like I was bothering her by asking questions. She didn’t know what kind of jam was on the "we brie jammin" burger so she went to find out. She told me it was chipotle to which I said that it would be too hot for me. Then she seemed to argue that because she liked it and didn’t think it was hot, that I should be okay with it. I opted for just a regular cheeseburger with no onions, but the onions were on my plate anyway and again she acted like it was no big deal that I couldn’t eat them. No apology or offer to remove them either. And about the onions – I’ve never seen a Caesar salad with onions in it, but there were pieces of onion in the one we ordered. The food was good when it came but she never once refilled my water. When she brought the check, she said “Here you go” – again no smile or acknowledgement that she cared about our experience there. We love R'z Cafe. Food and service are always top notch. A few our favs are the Bourbon Bacon Pork Chop, Land and Sea Burger, Titan Burger, Loaded chips and the desserts are always amazing.

Editing to add some more pictures from our most recent visit. My cousin and his wife just moved back to town from the North Dakota/Montana area. They chose a spot in Haubstadt so of course we had to set a dinner night and take them to R'z. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. We had reservations for 7pm (thanks Dano) and got our table right away. As always, the server was off the charts and made sure we had everything we needed. Switched it up from our normal appetizers and went with the breaded mushrooms and the firecracker chips and dip. Both were phenomenal. The serving size of mushrooms was enough for all 4 of us and the firecracker dip was absolutely amazing. I had the Meatloaf Stack and the wife had the Chicken Florentine. Both dishes were very good and what we have come to expect dinning at R'z. My cousin had the all you can eat catfish and his wife had the Mahi Mahi. Sorry, no pics of those 2. They stated both dishes were very good and that the Mahi Mahi was best they have had. For dessert we went with Death by Chocolate and our diner partners went with Death by Peanut Butter. Both were very good and are basically our go to. Highly recommend checking out this hidden gem in Fort Branch. Worth the drive and the wait...

I’ve been waiting a year to go try this Cookie Dough cake and get to Rz’s as my life schedule has been a little busy. Today was the day!

I met Candy, the owner, who was the absolute sweetest! She was wearing “all the hats”, very busy, and did it with a smile and grace. She treated everyone like they were a part of her extended family… greeting people, walking around talking with people…exactly how a local business should feel when you walk in. I loved all the “family” oriented signs and “family” atmosphere feel!! Although Candy was busy, she took time to go back to the kitchen and bring out a few different desserts they had on the menu to show me. (I wanted to buy all of them!) I left with my Cookie Dough cake, Caprese Salad and a Peanut Butter brownie (one of the items she showed me… I couldn’t resist.) I can’t wait to drive back up when I have time to sit and enjoy this beautiful restaurant, all the food and her presence! The menu is amazingly extensive and has something for everyone to enjoy!! Thank you, Candy for your sweet soul and kindness today!! I’m glad I put you on my restaurant “bucket list” as you’ll now be at the top of my recommendations to everyone I know!!
