Gandules Grill — Restaurant in Fort Myers

I WILL NEVER IN MY LIFE SPEND MY MONEY OR ANYONE ELSE’S MONEY FOR THAT MATTER AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT!! I had the worst customer service that I have ever experienced as a human being. For one I ordered online if you’ve ever visited the clover website that they have to order food… it’s trash. I literally had to turn my phone sideways to try and see what I was ordering and I still ended up ordering the wrong thing. And didn’t actually get to see my order until I used my Apple Pay and it let me view receipt. Ordered conch shrimp and octopus instead of just shrimp and octopus so fast forward I get the the restaurant to pick up order and I address MY mistake. I simply asked is there anything that can be done the guy with the dangling earring says well what if we give you more conch to substitute the octopus I was PERFECTLY fine with that. So he begins addressing the concern to about 4 other people. I look like a black woman but I am of Dominican descent I don’t speak Spanish fluently but I can understand some things. And I’m just standing there for about 7 mins. Then I see this big buff man walk in and say “OH YOU EXPECT FOR ME TO TAKE A LOST AFTER YOU MADE A MISTAKE”! I’m just trying to understand how you can say that after I just paid $74 for 2 meals. and I’m looking in his eyes and you can clearly tell he’s intoxicated, this place is clearly all about a dollar they don’t care about customer service. I would have left the food and called my bank for a refund usually but seeing as I ordered 2 plates I was not trying to ruin it for the other party! I am a small petite woman roughly 140 pounds. I just trying to figure out if they thought I was gonna jump over the counter and go and fix more conch myself or if my darker skin complexion made me a threat. What an experience!!

So you don’t usually respond to reviews but you took the time to try and make it seem like I was rude and asked you guys to throw food away. I believe this location was in Lee county Florida. We were out on a ride with our brother and his wife. They took us to this restaurant they have been to a few times.

Atmosphere - kind of chill. We went on a rainy Saturday evening. There was seating inside and outside. Lots of people were coming many were groups of 4 or more, mostly more. The location is in a shopping center so it is small. There are tv screens behind the bar. Music playing. It is a vibe! The restaurant gives a clean island feel. The wall are white and there are several back drops of green grass and flowers. Seating is kind of close.

Service - it was not spectacular. Our waitress was nice and knowledgeable about the menu.

Food - Full of flavor. There are many things on the menu and are just like the pictures. We ordered, in no particular order/plate; red beans, rice and Gandules, vegetable, grouper baked, all players come with salad. Someone got a dessert and we all got fruit drinks. Order the rice and beans. Do not miss out. This is the star of the show. I have had beans everywhere. These were the best I have ever had including the rice. Order a fruit drink, it is a must. And Look over the menu, look at other tables before you make a decision. They have some interesting dishes. Be daring try something new. Pricing - reasonable hubby a my check was about $60 with tip, hubby had an alcoholic beverage. They always cost as much as the meal, lol. I definitely recommend Gandules Grill. This restaurant is nice and have nothing to complain about when it comes to the environment or food. The service however needs some attention. This place does not have a phone to call to place orders or make reservations. I happen to be there and made an in person reservation for my 40th birthday. I mean every restaurant should take pride in their customers wanting to spend their important dates at their establishments! I made a reservation for 12 people at 7pm. My party arrived at 6:55pm and the place was packed. They had no table for us to get seated. We had to wait till a table became available. What's the point of making a reservation then?? I understand waiting a few minutes but this was not the case. The staff didnt seem to feel bad at all for the inconvenience. Now it's my birthday and we brought in a birthday cake. I was told I couldn't have the cake in their restaurant. I am not to open, cut or serve it to my party. Now that's bit ridiculous if you asked me. This restaurant is very busy and they will not loose customers over any negative review unless there is a health concern. But restaurants like this which are successful sometimes tend to have cocky staff. This is a prime example. They didnt care because there is a line of people waiting to get in. This equals to poor customer service. I decided to call another restaurant last minute and luckily got in and was able to open, cut and serve my birthday cake.
