May 2021: Ok I come to town at least once a month for work and I've always seen this place busy and packed at lunch time with a line of cars for the drive-thru around the building. I decided to stop today. After waiting about 5 or so minutes in the Drive-Thru line I decided to park and go inside. I placed an order for a small barbecue pork sandwich combo. It comes with a sandwich some fries coleslaw and a drink. I thought a prank was being played on me when I got into my vehicle and opened the bag. This thing looks smaller than a child's meal! Now yes I did order a small, but for $8 I was not expecting this! After the initial disappointment it was going to be hard to wow me and as expected the food itself did not either. 5/13/21 - I decided to give this restaurant a second chance. Not surprisingly I ended up with the same result. This time instead of a pork sandwich I ordered a grilled chicken. The chicken was surprisingly larger, but when taking a bite it was extremely dry and as you can see in the picture almost paper thin. I used the drive-thru this time and from the time I got in line to the time I got my sandwich had to have been 20 minutes. The parking lot is always packed with cars and the inside with people. I can't understand how this place is this busy with this many five star reviews. Smh

When you walk in, head towards middle of the small walkway between the bar and the tables to grab a number. They don’t take names, they simply say a number out loud and if it happens to be your number, then that’s your table. The place is decorated in a sort of rustic modern way. Menu features sandwiches, platters and meats. We tried their corn nuggets, had a smoked grilled chicken sandwich and a jumbo bar-b-q sampler which included beef, pork & ribs. They have a grown folks platter which is basically the same. The only difference is the jumbo has 3 of each and the grown folk has 2 of everything. They include garlic bread and a choice of two sides. We opted for their Mac & cheese and coleslaw. Their bar-b-q sauces are soo good. One was classic bbq and one was more tangy and more of a buffalo wing flavor. My partner says there was a third sauce but to me it tasted similar to the more tangy one (which was my favorite) Service was friendly, courteous and the food was brought in a timely manner even though the place was packed. As people left, more people came in. Note, their drive thru was busy and their take out parking spaces were constantly being filled because of the amount of people that ordered take out. Very worth it. Will definitely be back.

This was my first time dining here, but from the moment I walked in, it immediately felt like home. There’s something special about a place where the staff greets regulars by name—it tells you everything you need to know about the kind of service and community they’ve built. When people keep coming back, you know they’re doing something right. I went with a sampler plate that included pulled pork, sliced beef and ribs, and they did not disappoint. Tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. The house made sauces were a great complement to the meal. The mac and cheese was rich and comforting—definitely a solid side. The green beans weren’t really my favorite, but that’s more personal preference than anything else. Oh and that iced tea was so refreshing. The only real letdown? They were out of banana pudding by the time I finished my meal—which honestly just confirmed how good it must be. Note to self: get there earlier next time! All in all, this place has great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and clearly a loyal customer base. I’ll definitely be back—next time with banana pudding in mind!

Critical review with specific details….. I recently learned about this establishment when I drove by it a couple of times a few weeks previous. I noticed the parking lot was filled and then I checked the reviews. A local place has two instances of why a person would patronize it, one would be the locals know it’s good, or there really isn’t anywhere else to go. I have always thought that people who rave about BBQ, really don’t know BBQ. This time, I have to say that based on the reviews, there is no other BBQ place around, and they are use to sub standard BBQ.

Now, let’s look at the critical side, the spare ribs were smoked, when ribs are smoked, they need be kept warm and wet in a hot box. If your a restaurant, your hot box is another key to moist and tasty ribs. If not then they dry out. This round of ribs were dry for the thin ribs, usually end cuts. Most rib joints neglect to serve a full platter of center cuts, so they polish off the pound of ribs with dry ends. Smoked chicken should not be rubbery. Yes it was moist, but to eat it was another story. For all extensive purposes I wanted to ask why corn on the cob was a premium side? Because the macaroni and cheese was about questionable as to where it came from. The baked potato was just slightly warm, no steam from it at all. Now the buttered toast was good and that’s about the extent of it.

When we were offered to speak with the Kitchen Mgr, he decided to just adjust the bill and let us know via our waitress he was busy. The waitress was awesome and very sweet, the atmosphere is delightful and clean. The smell of smoked meats makes this a great place. I just wish the quality of the prepared food was better. On scale from 1-10: Service/Server-10, cleanliness- 8 (bathroom-5, it needs to be checked and cleaned hourly, since it’s a single person capable room) atmosphere-7, Parking-10, spare ribs-1, chicken-1, baked potatoe-1, garlic toast-10. I don’t think I can return and give them another chance, I would have expected better for $40+ Based on the reviews, it also appears they don’t respond to posts. Maybe they don’t know, maybe they don’t care, maybe it doesn’t...

**Moonswiners BBMoonswiners BBQ in Vero Beach, Florida, is a culinary destination that offers an intriguing juxtaposition of commendable service and delectable flavors, albeit with a caveat.

The restaurant's service is nothing short of excellent. Whether you choose to dine in or opt for the convenience of their drive-thru, the staff's attentiveness and professionalism are noteworthy. They ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience, setting a high standard for customer service in the food industry.

The food, too, is a highlight at Moonswiners BBQ. Each dish is a testament to the art of barbecue, with flavors that are rich, robust, and tantalizingly tangy. The taste is sure to satisfy even the most discerning palate, making every bite a delightful experience.

However, the restaurant falls short when it comes to portion sizes. Given the price point, one might expect generous servings that match the quality of the food. Unfortunately, this is not the case at Moonswiners BBQ. The portions are somewhat modest, which may leave patrons questioning the value for their money.

In conclusion, Moonswiners BBQ excels in service and taste but leaves room for improvement in its portion-to-price ratio. It's a solid choice for barbecue enthusiasts who prioritize flavor and service over quantity. However, those seeking a hearty meal might find the portions lacking relative...
