Al's Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Fort Smith

Stopped by at lunch while driving by. Saw three cars waiting, figured had to be decent at least. Got a lunch been slixed sandwich, the fries and drink for little over 9 bucks. For 9 bucks, I expected more. The sandwich was small, be prepared for that. The meat, sliced brisket, did have a small smoke ring, but light on flavor overall. Also, is sliced almost paper thin slices which does not help the look or flavor. Clearly not a lot of rub is used here, if any. This is not the brisket used to that has a depth of flavor, coming from Texas. The fries were good. Might have to try those with the pulled pork next time, as willing to give it another go, just to see if it was an off day. I can say against about 5 competitors in the area, it is...

This place is historically good, I've been going to this BBQ shack for 15+ years, I've been in separate states from friends that have gone to this amazing place and we get to talking about how good the food is. Then we get on how there is nothing around the country that compares. Makes our mouths water and we dream about eating a BBQ sandwich with those perfectly seasoned red skin potatoes and the buttermilk ranch. I just sat down with my mom and talked to her about it and she was in shock because she use to go to here when I was a kid. She talked about how good it was and how it always stayed busy. After a long day with a bunch of driving involved I stopped at this place as a halfway point and walked up to the window and nothing but a cordial natured man opened it up asking what I was wanting got a combo plate and some hickory fries and I'll be honest I've never had fries like that they're absolutely delicious too the coleslaw is even good and alot of BBQ joints struggle with the coleslaw nothing but nice honest people making food that'll bring smiles at this establishment..I'll be back next time I'm in fort...
