Lexington restaurant, st paul — Restaurant in Fort Snelling Unorganized Territory

This is my first ever Google review and sadly it is for a place I have always dearly loved. I grew up in the area of the Lexington and have been going there for decades and thru management changes. Always a great place for a casual lunch while Grand Meandering (unless things have changed they no longer are open for lunch), a great afternoon happy hour (who know root vegetables could taste so good), a great evening of drinks and apps on the roof top and then of course for special occasions! I am writing this as I recently read an article in the Pioneer Press about once we’re back in the saddle where will you eat first and the first Restaurant listed was the Lexington. Prior to our last meal there in 2019 celebrating our 40th anniversary I would have agreed, but I will never go back! Had a lovely cocktail hour with our kids in the bar prior to our 6:00 reservation. They left and although we were early, they took us in the restaurant at 5:30, because there were only two other tables filled at the time. We were greeted promptly by a lovely server who took our wine and food order. We were extremely Impressed that the menus were printed with the date and 40th Anniversary! We each had a glass of wine and our Caesar salad. That’s when things went down hill and hit rock bottom. Our food wasn’t brought-out until after 8:00 and was cold. We were there less than a year before for a birthday celebration and I had steak a’la Oscar. It was no longer on the menu so my husband special ordered. The evening manager brought us our food after reaching out several time’s. Very thing was cold. We left very disappointed vowing to never go back. Something else we have never done, is call the next day to bring this lapse to there attention, we got the same manager who served us our food and asked if they were short handed or to inquire why we received such subpar food and service as this had not occurred in the past. He stated there was nothing wrong and he hoped we would come back again so they good redeem their reputation. Between my sons and us we dropped $700 that night. So, no, not a chance! we will be...

Still great food, at least what came to the table. Service was terrible. We ordered the restaurant week tasting menu. First 2 courses were delicious and delivered in 30 minutes for both. 35 minutes later no desert. We told our server we had an event to get to and had to leave before dessert came.
